that's certainly one of those bi-polar'ish "mods". Most people either like it or don't like it. I personally like it and have one on my sportback.

Yeah, judging by the amount of replies in this thread, most people don't like the mod lol

installation is hella easy

reception is roughly the same as the stock arials (both the OEM shorty and the longer unit), though if you were to knit pick it, the reception may be slightly degraded. I haven't listened to AM/FM in a really long time, because I prefer Sirius radio or MP3s from my phone. So, for me, in most situations it doesn't make any difference.

Installation consists of unscrewing the stock antenna, screwing on the shark fin antenna with included hardware, lining up the new antenna, removing the 3m tape liner and pushing down. You have to make sure to clean the area where the new antenna will be mounted.

Reception is the exact same to me, i live near the mountains and i lose reception for my radio stations at the exact same place when driving to work as the stock antenna.

it's far less worse that people putting those led strips on the front of their cars (imitating Audi's and other luxo cars) or putting angel eyes/halos in their headlights...

it's more subtle, imo. where as the light mods are in your face...

some people get the shorty antennas because they don't like the big stock one. some people get the sharkfin because they dont like the antenna at all. it ruins the lines of the car.. reminds me of alfalfa

Just reminded me of this video. Not poking fun at all. It looks clean with the color matching.

and a shark fin antenna on this generation's lancer isn't that far out there..
