no launching for 5 or 6 months. just regular autox starts or nice street miles.

Stiffer springs+revalve
Real rear diff
Injectors
E85 Tune

That would be a pretty amusing car to drive for sure though it does limit me to the Hoohoos because Kumho doesn't make that size.

Anyhoo, thanks for the feedback. It's actually not as bad as I thought.
you could fit 285 hoho's on a 9.5" wheel with an STU legal fender roll in the rear. I wouldn't bother with the 255's. the kumho 285's are skinnier than the hoosiers and would definitely fit with an stu legal roll.

I wouldn't bother with the 255's either. Way too short. I think you run out of gear at like 60. Honestly, the Kumhos are every bit as good as the Hoosiers. They handle heat better, have a better feel, transition better and last twice as long on a two driver car. They don't do as well in 40 degree weather, but that's it.

As Marshall said, a light roll is all you need in the rear.

I've had 315 Ho Ho's on my 2011 MR all season using Einke 18x10.5's with 15 MM spacers at all 4 corners. If you run plenty of spring the body roll is not enough to make contact with the tires....

Nothing needed to be done in the rewar, but the fronts required tossing the liners and cutting away some trim on the rear side of the wells to accomafdte lock to lock with the 315's...

315's make a big difference on an EVO X. Was in ASP moving to SM for fun...

How much effort is required to fit them up front, though? As I recall, the Perrin offset PSRS is a common mod to fit wider tires up front, but it wouldn't be allowed in ASP as it changes the suspension mounting points.

almost zero effort. I mean you do have to bolt them on....but that's about it.

I'm not sure i'd call the PSRS a 'common mod', and it certainly isn't required to fit wider tires.

I would add fuel pump for reliability (if that isn't done already)

a vented catch can as well. I got a good bit of midrange power and tons of throttle response off mine (SSPTX Catch Can). They make an 8/9 version

I think the biggest element (besides wheel/tire fitment) is a strong powerband/tune, since (practically) all the shackles are off (unrestricted boost). My X is able to hold peak torque to about 6k rpm, so it has a pretty phat powerband for autox and has been a huge advantage for me against my local national champion guys

*disclaimer- I'm not as experienced nationally, but I did get a taste of it back in March against Jeremy Foley . next year I plan on doing more national events so we'll see how much my setup worked/failed

Power isn't everything, lowest power SM car won Nationals this year. 2nd lowest powered car in class finished 3rd (our car). Its all about handling, power is important but its all about the handling, repeating to myself, its all about the handling. Dialing in a set of double adjustable coil overs at Nationals on a surface you never get to see is harder than you think!
That said we are doing some power mods this offseason, screw being 2nd to last on power in SM class.

Mr Foley, don't knock 315's until you try them... Have you tried them BTW?

I have not run them. But to make the switch worthwhile. You really need to run at least 11"rims. Preferably more. Otherwise the 10.5" 285 combo is just as wide. Albeit shorter. I think the compromises of wider overall car width and taller ride height outweigh the advantages of more rubber.
