How To: Modding your Evo ~$100 at a time!
Honestly you're better off SKIPPING the LICP, intake, and exhaust mani and getting tuned NOW. Tuning is the best bang/buck you can get on these cars, especially coming from the stock tune!
IF you wanted to, you could do the LICP, exhaust mani (do it right and do the o2 sensor housing at the same time), and do the intake at the same time as doing the tune. An intake will mess with your idle and WOT AFR's a bit and you may be unhappy with the results and driveability.
Again, I say just get tuned, now, then save up for more parts and a retune down the road.

Great list, I'm still a newb myself but have been reading alot on the Evo, I'm trying to figure out what WOT means? Thanks again for the list
Best price on the 1.3M Tactrix cable I've ever seen: http://www.dsmchips.com/viewproduct.php?id=30
I've also been getting quite a few PM's regarding the eBay short-shifter so here is a current link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lance...Q5fCarQ5fParts

More positive updates to come...
How could you not? Did you put it on the shortest shift setting? If not, it doesn't do much good...I'd double check your install man
The setting you want it on will make it so the shifter sits so low you have to cut the plastic shifter base, otherwise the shifter cable hits it. If the cable doesn't hit, you need to adjust it.

Scheides is right. If you didn't notice a difference then you didn't install it on the shortest setting. The "long" setting is no different from stock and a waste of time (I've personally tried it on my car).
Anyway, after this mod the car has noticeably more power to get up the hill with less speed.
I waited a long time to make this post until I was absolutely certain. I'm pretty sure the car is a tiny bit faster also.
Here's one thing. The improved throttle response is a mixed bag, yes it's clearly more responsive BUT that means when you rollout first thing in the morning bleary-eyed down your back street over the bumps the bumps will jostle your throttle foot and the throttle will respond and if you're not paying attention you'll spill your coffee.
Just something to be aware of, it makes the car a more highly-strung beast which means you have to drive it with more care. Not a big deal but, something to consider before making the mod.I never checked before on the oil consumption, this car doesn't suck oil the way my '02 WRX does. I never had a problem with my dipstick.
That's all for now. I still owe someone a pic of my Short-throw.

so if we didn't cut the plastic base, we didn't do it right. ****. ok. I thought it was a self-explanatory install. Sigh...

I have a fairly unique (I imagine ) POV on the crankcase mod. I have a very steep driveway which I have to hit with speed in order to not stall the car. Annoying.

I'll be installing a short-shifter on a local's car tomorrow evening, I'll try to get him to post up his feedback in here once he's driven with it for a bit.
Awesome! Great feedback and results!

I track my mileage at every fillup.
Average before Crankcase vents: 16.79 MPG based on 37 fillups.
Average after Crankcase vents: 17.05 MPG based on 24 fillups.
It's not much, but it's something.

They include some basic instructions and are very easy to install; only takes around 10 minutes. I've installed quite a few sets on various cars so feel free to PM me with any questions if needed.
where is the most ideal place to hook a mbc in (tried searching), I hear some recomment hooking up to the intake manifold, while some say to hook it to the turbo. On are applications which is better? If on the intake manifold is there a certain vacume line to splice into?

Also I just had Scheides help me install a ebay short shifter. And am loving every minute of it
Well myself and kracka just installed the short shifter and base bushings and what a difference it makes. Under normal driving it it a whole lot stiffer and a little more effort is needed in shifting. However the real difference is when you get above that 3k rpm point or at wide WOT that you really feel the difference. Shifts are quicker and way more precise. There just isn't the lag time in between shifts like before. Best mod bang for the buck. Once again i appreciate the help kracka.
