That track is wicked, guy's necks must have been a little sore after that one.
yeah, Webber said in the post race interview that it was a mistake for them to pit on the same lap as hami. but i think even if webber leap frog hami in pit, it wouldn't have been much for hami to catch up and used DRS to pass. Hami was able to repass webber very quickly on the next lap when webber passed hami in the DRS zone. webber was using DRS just to keep up. they were getting down to low fuel condition, and hami quali pace was much quicker than webber.

Thanks Ken. I have 6 F1 websites bookmarked, but I will have add this one as well. Who knows what he really meant by that? He might be putting a positive spin on it. Given that he was pushing to catch Jensen, it would seem that he was frustrated in not being able to catch him. The Speed crew took note of it as well. I have seen many drivers after a race, try and change what they really said during the heat of a race. In any event, I was surprised to hear the charging bull say that. One thing about Alonso is his tenacity. He never seems to give up.

Found this on ITVF1: http://www.itv.com/formula1/news/201...pe-massa-9360/

He continued to show strong speed thereafter and got to within a couple of seconds of Button who was running in fourth – who himself was following closely behind the battling Lewis Hamilton and Mark Webber – before telling his race engineer over the radio with just a couple of laps to go that “I give up”.

Asked if he had really meant what he said given he finished just 0.9s behind the McLaren, the fifth-placed Spaniard explained that after getting out of shape at the last corner heading into the penultimate lap he realised he wasn’t going to pass the McLaren.
“Yeah, I did 20 laps, qualifying laps, to catch the group in front and when I arrived there I had a little moment across to the wall in the last corner,” Alonso said.

“I asked the team how many laps we had left, they said two, and I said ‘with two I cannot do it [pass Button] guys’.

“So we arrived a bit too late into the battle.”

I think Webber would have been able to pull a gap in sector's 2 and 3. Hami was only faster on the straights, B. We'll never know though...

There is more than one way to skin a cat: Not so fast

Despite banning of blown diffusers for 2012, some have tried to accomplish same via engine mapping: http://www.crash.net/f1/news/174284/...g_in_2012.html
However, it appears that Whiting is going to close that door.

About Alonso saying "I give up..." over the radio at the end of the race... the commentators said something that I agree with. I really think that was a fake move by Alonso to try and make Jenson slow down a bit. As the announcers pointed out... Alonso said he gives up... but his pace never actually slowed down. Also... how many times would a team announce "strategy" on public air like that. Even if Alonso was frustrated... if he really meant it he would have said it in a more coded way.

Good news!! Williams made one of the dumbest moves ever replacing Hulkenburg for Maldonado. Good luck getting another pole with Maldonado or Rubens, both of them need to leave F1 asap.

I agree, I could never see Alonso actually giving up, most likely a trick call to try and get Button to slow down.

Considering Maldonado was the 2010 GP2 champ and brings a butt load of sponsorship money I'd call it a pretty smart move for a team that has been on a decline and lost a lot of funding. Unfortunately getting one lucky pole position does not deliver the monies.

Thus why the Iceman could be signing soon...

Yeah but he was GP2 champ after being in the series for way too many years, he has zero potential. Sure he brings in sponsorship money but if he can't deliver results then he's useless.

I'd really like to see Kimi back but I can't see him joining Williams even with all the speculation, he's said before that he will only drive for a championship winning car but then again you never know...
