I have a question about EMS

Before I run out and buy a laptop I'd figured I would ask you guys if the AEM EMS system comes with a laptop. I've looked on some sites and saw it pictured but got kind of confused when it wasn't mentioned in the article. Thanks for the help.

No it doesn't. You need your own computer to tune the EMS.

I don't have an EMS. But anything with Windows XP will run the EMS program just fine.

Cool thanks for the info I got more questions about it if anyone that uses it could answer it would help me alot.

I recently ordered a laptop for use of the AEM EMS

Is the program layout really easy to follow when tuning with the laptop?

Do you tune by your own intuitions or does the setup have detailed instructions based on mods? Overall how are the instrutions?

How has it worked for you self tuning? Does the engine sometimes have trouble starting?

Thanks for any help

I downloaded the program from AEM going to get a feel for it on my PC and try to learn more. I hope that when it goes into my car it won't take extremely long to tune. I may just have it done professionally so I don't blow my motor or break something by trying to tune it myself. It was told to me that this is a very intricate type of tuning that differs to SAFC type of tuning. To me it seems better to have it dyno tuned by a professional with the program but I want to learn it too so I can tune in my driveway.

It's great you want to learn but dont jump into it too fast with your car. Research the software and software functions. Research gasoline A:F ratios, ignition timing, BSFC, MBT, etc.

I agree with constant boost, the AEM forums is a great place. Remember that AEM isn't like a flash or piggy back FMS, it CAN damage your Motor with ALOT less effort if adjusted improperly.
