Personally, I'm not worried too much about the lag. I don't like the idea of having to spin my motor out to 8k every time to utilize my powerband.

Been revving my stock engine with 272 HKS cams the last 4 years to 8500-8600rpm and haven't had any issues. I put Brian Crower springs in my head about a a year and a half ago to give me a little more insurance, but no issues yet. Engine has 100k on it now. I would say 30psi full boost shouldn't be expected much before 4900 rpm and for my non HTA model it is more like 5300rpm. This is assuming no head/engine mods to help spool. That was on my .63 turbine housing which I found to have some cracks in it. Just switched to a .82, so it will be interesting to see the results.

That will be interesting to see results fre. I am getting my car tuned next week. It's a non-HTA GT35r with a .63 housing and a Shearer Manifold. I have Brian Crower Springs/Retainers, GSC S2 cams, Wiseco 10:1 pistons, Eagle Rods, a Nisei Intercooler, custom piping, and a custom dump. I have one Warlboro in the tank and one before the rail and 1000cc Injectors. We shall see how it goes. I sure hope I can spool a little before 5k, or I'm going to rip it off and throw a FP setup on there for quicker spool. What spool difference are you guys noticing between HTA and Non-HTA 35r's?

I am currently running an hta3586r + .63 and planning on upgrading the hotside to a .82 (if I dont sell her!), so I took some data and hoping to compare it to the .82 down the rd. hope this helps!

engine setup: turbo kit, GSC S2's, 3.5'' ic with 2.5'' ic piping and everything else is stock (tb, int manni, block, head ports....etc).
cheers!

That looks about right 5k for 26psi maybe slightly higher for 30psi. Unfortunately, I won't be upgrading to the fp 3586 variant until I build my engine. I figure the 400wtq I am throwing at the stock block is plenty. Will get a more exact figure from my logs when I get back. I did have a crack in my hotside though, so that could have definitely effected my spool.

results for .82 is 20psi by 5300 and 32psi by 5700. My .63 did about 2-300 rpm better 5450 was 31.5 psi, but I gained about 15whp with the .82

good results. what gear was that in? 3rd gear I assume?
I swaped to the 82 hotside, and got a bunch of data, processing them at the moment and will share. Generaly speaking tho, looks like I lost around 150-250 rpm worth of spool...surprisingly!
cheers!

Yea it was 3rd gear and the spool loss seems to be the same with you, so no surprise there. I noticed about the same amount of pickup in torque as well (+15wtq).
