HELP!!! Car won't start with new injectors, AEM EMS fried?

It's an Evo 8 with AEM EMS 30-1313 UEGO, the car was perfectly fine before the new injectors were put in. It was running on stock injectors.

The new injectors are SARD 800CC top feed low imp. (measured at about 3.2ohm, stock is 2.6ohm)

In the AEMPro software, there's no selection for Sard 800cc in the Wizard, so i chose one that is closeset to it - RC 750cc 3ohm.

It's getting sparks but no fuel, fuel pressure gauge indicates 35psi of fuel pressure. fuel pump runs.

Threre's +12 volt on all injectors, but no ground signal when it's cranking.

Does it matter how the injectors are wired up? they came with new connectors, but it didn't specify which is positive or ground, so I wired them all the same way, ground on left, positive on right.

Is there spare drivers that I can use? AEMPro manual states that AEM EMS supports up to 10 injector drivers.

Someone please help me!! This car is stuck here I need it out of here asap...... thanks!!

i just did some more tests....

1. checked wiring on injectors, they are wired up correctly and no broken wires or anything.

2. with injectors unplugged, injector connector is actually getting around 10.5v while the battery voltage is 12v+

3. if injector is connected , there is NO power whatsoever at the connector.

4. in AEMPro, injector pulse width reads some numbers like 6xxx at crank.

5. if I go to Fuel->Advanced Fuel - Parameters Advanced Fuel, Fuel #01 - > #04 are OFF , even when cranking.

Does Fuel #01-04 mean Injector #1-4?

Help please!!!!!

Have you tried posting in the AEM Forums?

mike2016 Jul 10, 2006 01:16 PM

i did that but no one replied yet....

also, in AEM EMS help file it states that all evos have 6ohm resistor pack, that should work with the new injectors and i don't see why it would fry the ems....

ah gossh someone help me...

Ok calm down I dont think that your EMS if fried. If you can connect to it, than that is a step in the right direction.
Now, did you scale the injectors on the fuel map, or did you just change injectors in the Battery offset wizard? If not than that is your problem. Dont check check voltage at the injector try and check resistance. Now go to the fuel map and highlight the whole thing. Then right click and go all the way to the bottom and click change injectors/pressure, or what ever close to that. Then input this:
old--550 at 43psi
new-800 at 43psi.

See if that helps, i bet it does.
Let me know,

I did change the settings in both Battery offset wizard and the fuel map , it wont do a thing at all.

the settings shouldn't disable the injectors no matter how wrong they are, at least they got to fire the injectors SOMEHOW !!

but now, there's NO FUEL at all, like none, not even a drip of fuel in the cylinders.

Maybe the injectors are wired wrong.

Magnumpsi Jul 10, 2006 04:51 PM

Hmm then that is a little strange.
Did you check fuel lines to make sure that you dont have something plugging the line or kinking it?
Also what is the exact process you follow when you installed the injectors?
And you say there is no voltage to the injectors?
Maybe you did kill an injector driver. Hard to say, need a little more info.

Put the stock ones back in and see if it fires up on your old map. If so the injectors were installed wrong.

mike2016 Jul 10, 2006 05:24 PM

IEXCELR8, injectors can not be wired wrong, as they work both ways.

Magnumpsi, nothing's wrong with the fuel lines, there is fuel pressure in the fuel rail. I can manually trigger the injectors by applying power and ground to it, and it will inject a bit of fuel into the engine, after that I can try to start it and it would "puffffffff" for a bit from little bit of fuel.

when i installed the injectors, i cut the original connectors off, wire new ones in, thats it.

apparently, something is wrong and keeping the injectors from firing.

there IS voltage at the injectors, when the injectors are unplugged. it measure about 10.5v while batt volt is 12+v. Aem tech said it should be same as batt volt.
with injectors plugged in, there is no power at all.

the injector drivers must be dead, but geezh, i fried 4 injector drivers all at once? i should've bought lottery that day.

i tried connecting stock ones to the harness, when its cranking, it won't tick or do anything at all.

check your cam signal. I believe this is where you get the signal from to tell the ecu when to fire then sends a signal to you injector wires. There are spare drivers its listed on the instruction sheet your box came with or you can look it up in your AEM files under instructions for your box. Its a lil more detailed to change the setting after you switch drivers.

don't you have to make the ignition pulse longer now since you have bigger injectors?

maybe I'm wrong, but if someone could correct me that would be good.

sorry to bring back an old post, but i found this during searching. i need the battery offset for PTE 780cc injectors. anybody have it? or is there another injector that i can use in the wizard that will be the same as the PTE 780cc

Did you change injectors/pressure on the fuel map?
