Not so sure the reliability is in the mods so much as the tune and how you drive it. Why the speed density? Has not been shown to make significant gains at low(sub 500bhp) levels and can be difficult to dial in which might be counter productive to the reliability you seek.

Same thought, I don't know much about that, but isn't a MAF going to be better?

Some guys have great luck with SD. Some don't. Not so sure it would be worth the hassle that's all.

what clutch will you be useing? but as far as reliability you should be fine as long as the tune is good iv had a similar setup for the last year and no problems at all with alot of drag racing during the year

Good to know.

GST thinks SD is unnecessary as well, so I'll remove those parts from the list. That alone will save me ~$835.

Stock.

No idea how long it will last or how it should hold up, but might as well right it until it dies.

I like that saying, but reliability depends on the tune, driving habits, and maintenance as much as anything. Is your evo strictly a DD with some track time? Weekend joy ride? AutoX? These factors will all play into the reliability of your car.

A good rule of thumb seems to be around 450-500 hp with stock internals, trans, etc, for reliability. Lots of threads on that subject already, with varying perspectives. Let the flames begin!

My Evo is my daily driver, I put ~100 miles on it M-F, so it needs to stay reliable.

I'm willing to spend the money to make the car both fast and reliable.

How much reliablitly am I about to sacrifice as soon as I put these mods on my car?

Here is my build, this to be tuned with Speed Density on 91 octane.

BBK Full Turbo Kit
Forge Adjustable Wastegate Actuator
1000cc PTE injectors
Walbro 255 lph Fuel Pump
Kelford 272 Camshafts
Supertech Double Valve Springs + Retainers
ARP Head Studs
ETS LICP
ETS 3.5" FMIC
Perrin 4.5" Filter and MAF Adapter
Stock Intake Airbox (Modded)
EVO X 3 bar MAP Sensor
GM IAT Sensor / Bung (3/8" NPT)
Zeitronix ZT-2 Wideband O2 Sensor
Stock UICP
Titek Racing O2 Housing
Port/Polish/Coated Stock Manifold

Fixed!

Cheap + Fast =Not Reliable
Fast + Reliable = Not Cheap
Reliable + Cheap = Not Fast

And the mod list you have there is not very extreme. A nice tune with that setup should be a good DD as long as your take care of her.

I would also hold off on the head studs at this point unless youre planning on going well over 30 psi. The OEM ones should be good, your motors only at peak boost like 5% of the time. Most DD situation I never even make it past 10 psi.

^ I disagree. If you already have the head off to install cams, springs, retainers, etc., you might as well get the headstuds installed.

In programming "!=" means not equal to.

I would think it is better to be safe than sorry?

If E85 ever gets easy enough for me to fill every 3-4 days, I'll be switching over so Bryan can up the boost, etc.

Reliable, huh. I was told I would never get 80K out of and Evo,.

Get a really good tune with the mods and you should be good to go.

Stay away from meth and an SD conversion did not cost me $800+. It was more like an extra $134 DIY. I need the Wideband anyway.
