Swapping out instrumentation

I have a 2000 CE GLi lancer and was wanting to know if it is possible to swap the instrumentation of my car with the ones from the VRX or the MR, I'm talking about the ones with the white faced dials, that also has a tacho?

matt mate, i can help you with this one, as i have swapped my poverty pack 3 gauge CC cluster for an exotic ( ahem) 4 Gauge GSR CC cluster that has tachometer.

all you gotta do to get the tacho to work, is to know where to get the input of the tacho from ( ie from the coil), with mine, i hadda ad the coil wire and the ground wire and hey presto.. rev-o-meter !

**** easy, i did mine in like 20-30 minutes, swapped clusters over, ran the wire and she's in..

i can see my redline, and its helpful for those late night drags

beep beep .:. i will take mine out and take a photo on the back where i had to put my wires in, to see if it will help.:. unbeep unbeep

Thanks Mate

The other questions i have is where would you recomend getting the cluster from, how much are they worth & do you have to change the odometer screen as well.

If the odometer gets changed does it keep the amount of k's that is on my car, or is it just a display and the info is kept elsewhere.

this sounds strange but i don't know how else to put it

ok, my odometre is run by a cable, which it has those lil clicky numbers, unlike some of the later ones where i think they have the digital displays? i *cough bodged cough* mine, took them both apart, and swapped over the counters so mine was originaal
it was easy to do, but had to borrow a tacho to resetup the tacho. You don't need to change any covers or anything, just keep track where ALL the screws go.. can't stress it enough...erh i learnt the hardway... i got mine for 150 bucks atta wreckers, but he had to order it in from over east, and its genuine GSR. photos will come tomorrow

Cool thanks for your help.

Has anyone with the digital odometer done or attempted this swap?
