CC Coupe brake upgrade?

I'm currently in the process of putting a 4G93-T into my '95 CC Coupe. I've got the bigger GSR discs for the front but I dunno what to do about the rear drums... anyone know the best solution?
Can I use the original front discs on the back or should I try to source some rear brakes from a Proton or something?
What's the deal with the handbrake? How do I go about changing it?
How much is it all likely to cost for a rear disc upgrade?

Should be cranking soon for those interested, I've just had the bottom end rebuilt with forged pistons and balanced and shot-peened rods, getting the head cleaned up at the mo' but keeping the rest stock for now... at least until I can afford an Autronics anyway I figure it should be good for about 160kw or so.
Also, anyone know how big I can go with the exhaust without running into cop hassles in WA? Do I have to stick with 2 1/2" because it's only a coupe or can I go up to 3"? Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, well as far as brakes go, get the same set up all round, the GSR stud pattern you have for the front brakes is 4 x 114, and the rear stock Lancer size is 4 x 100, so to say the least it will be a pain in the *** getting rims to fit. I would pick up some second hand rears off a GSR as that will solve the problem and also give 4 wheel disc brakes. For new EVO III brakes you would be looking at AROUND $1500 fitted. To the next point the exhaust... 2.5" should be large enough for your application, but just because it is a coupe does not mean that there is a seperate rule. Remember not to go too big as you will lose back-presure therefore reducing performance. Hope that helps...

I got told by my local brake guy, that Galant GSR discs will fiot, but you may have to modify the body to get the calipers to bolt on.. im pretty sure thats what he said. Healso said if i found them., he would fit them, but they would be dear.

pretty sure magna brakes will fit too.

hmmmm I'm pretty sure the wheels that I have fit, the trickiest part seems to be the handbrake and associated plumbing... could be wrong though, I'd better go check.
All the GSRs I've seen have 3" exhausts, wouldn't that be my best option if I can get it legal?

Evoposer: Well, I picked the engine up cheap because it had thrown a rod, hence the bottom end rebuild. I scored the brakes, computer etc as the guy did a full Evo swap into his GSR. The cylinder was okay, only slightly scored so a *very* slight re-bore cleaned that up, and I decided to replace the rods with shot-peened items and forged pistons because I only want to do this once. I've budgeted $8000 for the complete engine swap, brake upgrade and 3" exhaust but it looks like it will come in under that. The other option was to import a more expensive front cut but they're getting hard to find and it would have been a "used" engine, whereas mine is gonna be pretty much brand new (albeit reconditioned) and heaps stronger than a standard GSR.
Cost would have been about the same. ($8Gs) An Evo swap would be slightly more expensive and the licensing woes turned me off because you are going up in capacity and the cops don't like it. The 4G93 is pretty much the same engine so it's easier to get passed. Figure around 11Gs for a fully engineered, 4 wheel disc-braked Evo-engined coupe and you should get some change.

I sure hope you have strengthened the body. There is a lot more to an engine swap than just changing the engine and brakes.

Nahhh bollocks!!! Just wack 'er in and see how we go!
Actually there's not much you can do short of putting in a roll cage ($5000+... would love to but hey, we can't have everything we want!). As far as I know the '95 CC coupes received side impact protection like the GSRs whereas the earlier models didn't, so I guess that helps. Seam welding the body is actually illegal believe it or not and not much use if you have a crash, so body reinforcements are limited to strut braces and a big fat solid sub box bolted between the rear strut towers
And 160kw is not THAT much, certainly not enough to induce chassis twist and it's not as if you can do massive chassis twisting launches in a FWD car anyway - the extra power will be taken more by the gearbox, drive shafts and tyres rather than the body. It would be a different story if it was RWD (now there's a thought)
