CC Cluster Swap (rexhunta?)
Hey I'm looking to swap out my CC dash cluster for one with a tacho, I have sourced one for $110 from a wrecker and he seems to think it will fit no worries.
What I'm after is how do I go about connecting the tacho up, I'm assuming none of the little connectors include the tacho wires becuase the car didn't have one originally.
I know rexhunta did this cos I found the thread, but can someone help me with hooking up the tacho? (coil and ground I hear)
cheers

okay, heres how you do it for the CC's
this picture is the back of the cluster itself
Where it says TM Earth, gets grounded to the chassis of the car, where it says TM, goes to the coil, the next post will show you where on the coil..

Part 2 !
Okay Kids, Part 2.
on the back of the coil, ( black thing with the spark plug leads coming out) is a lead that has 2 cable... one white, one black.. that go into a quick release harness ( see photo) i have put the TM from the back of the cluster into the white lead thats on that plug..
Now i did all this with trial and error using a workshop manual, and i managed to do...
The plug you are looking for, has a white female end and a black male end, with a skinny white wire and a thicker black wire coming from it.. it comes from the coil itself, so you can't miss it...
Have fun, and im sure you'll use it as mush as i do.. after a while, you'll ignore the speedo, and get used to watching the tacho and knwoing what gear your in to work out what speed
BTW! !!! Your speedo will be out if you are running the 4G15, so you shoulkd cut out the old speedo form the 3 cluster, and put it in the 4 cluster, as the 4 cluster goes higher.. roughly by my calculations, 60k's n hour is bout 70 on the speedo, 110 k's n hour is bout 130 on the cluster

ahh cheers mate, I haven't got the new dash yet so I'll try it when I get it.
is it possible to swap the speedo gear for the one from the GLXi (it has the dash with tacho, no?)
will it look crappy if I do the cut out thing?

i swapped the speedo gear over, and it didnt do anything at all, its still out.. but i did swap the odometer as well to have my original cars kays on it..
If you cut out the speedo properly and nicely, it should look pretty good, you might be able to hide it..

im in brisbane
what does your old and new dash go up to? One of the wreckers I rang said he had one with a tacho but it was an import and only went up to 180.
My current one goes up to 200, does the GLXi go higher or something?

man this was ages ago, I ended up cutting out my old speedo plate and putting it in front of the other one.
and mine was different, when I was going 60, the speedo read 50 or so with the new cluster. I think I also swapped the odometer assembly which drives the speedo so that may have affected it
