Supercharged Dyno Shootout
Well the moment of truth has come for the Raptor Superchargers Lancer kit to be measured at the industry standard, a dyno dynamics system.
The business name where we tested is LS1/Hyperformance here in Mackay and test was done today 18/11/03. Car has covered 8000 kms since kit was installed so this gives a good indication of whether the power/engine is holding up.
The fuel was Caltex Vortex PULP and humidity 52% and temp around 30C.
The dyno is a Dyno Dynamics 4 wheel drive setup in the 2WD mode for this car.
Results were 159.31 Kw @ the engine
using the 4 cyl shootout mode setting. I forgot to bring home a sheet with torque but can get that if necessary. Suffice to say the dyno tester said a standard Commodore V6 3.8 with exhaust, chip and a couple of other bits produced less than half the torque the Lancer was producing. Boost pressure was suprising as my gauge only says 7.5 or a little more sometimes, however on the dyno we saw a solid 9.5 psi at full power.
We played with the fuel mixture which was way rich (less than 10:1 AFR) when we got there and is now around the 12.5 at full throttle and netted another 3 Kw together with 18% more torque if I remember correctly. Quite a noticeable difference on the road.
So for all who were skeptical of Road Dyno, now you know
So for those who have already ordered systems, you are sure gonna get your moneys worth. For those who want to add exhaust systems and the like, there is still more fun to be had. Even BP ultimate would have gotten another couple of Kw.
