Mechanic Workshops FOR Timing Belt/Cams

hi all, i am from australia, sydney region but having trouble to find a mechanic that charges reasonably for a cam/timing belt job.

you may tell me to do it myself but i have no experience whatsoever or tools required to do so.

i was quoted 660 for a timing belt job.
and also 850$ to install cams/valve springs & reatainers so a total of $1510 just labour. i am doing the timing belt as i am under the impression they both cross over each other during the install and would be cheaper.
MEEK AUTOMOTIVE

but i was searching on forums and people quote 300 to install cams?

sounds like a complete ripoff to me. although they are reputable, that is surely a complete ripoff?

was wondering if anyone could give me a decent priced quote to look for or a workshop to recommend? thanks

To install cams is around 300 and thats what i payed, Doing retainers and springs requires removal of the head hence the labour cost is dramatically increased hence the increase in price. The timing belt does seem quite high though.

Meek are very high quality though from what i have heard, you could get the cambelt done at a normal shop though. for the cams i would want someone who knows what they are doing esp if you need springs and retainers
