SCCA Autocross #3
When: Sunday, 5/20/2012, 07:00 - 15:30
Where: Texas Motor Speedway Bus Lot, 3601 Highway 114, Fort Worth, TX
Link to Register: http://texasscca.org/soloautocross
I finally have my car rebuilt to comply with the February 2012 SCCA F-Prepared rule changes. Still have a few more things to do over the next month, but at least it's drivable. Looking forward to seeing any fellow Evo autocrossers who can make it out.
Cheers,
Mark

I'm going to give it a try with the extra 200lbs and smaller 46mm restrictor that was legislated in February's release of the 2012 rules. At one point they were talking about a 38mm restrictor, which would have made being competitive in FP impossible. 46mm + 200lbs is worth giving it a try. My ballast is now up to 350lbs.

Double co-drive on My evo 8.
Jeremy Foley wins ASP class and placed 1st in PAX overall out of 109 drivers. Jon Wagner placed 2nd in ASP and 2nd in PAX. Kent McKnight wins SM class and placed 7th in PAX. I placed placed 2nd in SM and 9th in PAX. My co-driver beat me by 1/10th of a sec.
I'm just happy to be placing in the top 10% of PAX this year. Maybe top 5% by end of the year. We shall see.
This car is one meaaaan machine. It's fast and only going to get faster when you guys do turbo, cams, valve springs, etc.
I also need lightweight racing seats and harnesses to take another 50 pounds or so out of the car by removing the heavy stock seats.
I'm also thinking about maybe doing a lightweight flywheel thinking it will reduce my braking distance since I brake with the clutch engaged. Lightweight driveshaft would also help. I'd love an aluminum roof....
Gosh this thing is getting expensive... :-)
Mark Berry was there too. His car is super fast as always.

Yep, it was a good event and nice to see so many Evo drivers out competing in autocross. It was a good first outing for the Evo on what was basically a new car from what I last ran in October 2011 - paxed 5th overall. Now it's time to make some minor adjustments to improve handling and get more seat time. With luck everything will come together to do well at Nationals in September.
