NTAXS Winter Autocross - 1/29/2012 - Pennington Field

The North Texas Autocross Series (NTAXS), presented by the North Texas S2000 Owners Club (NTS2KOC), is hosting our annual Winter Autocross event on Sunday, January 29th, 2012 at Pennington Field.

Pennington Field is located in Bedford, the heart of the Metroplex, on the southwest corner of Central Drive and State Highway 183.

The entry fee is $30 per person and you must pre-register at http://www.dlbracing.com starting Friday, January 13th. There is no on-site registration. The event is limited to 65 drivers, so sign up early. Please join us for a great day of racing and fun.

The event will be cancelled if any of the following occur:

- Less than 34 people have signed up by 9 AM CST on Thursday, January 26th.
- At 9 AM CST on Thursday, January 26th, the weather forecast for the event date calls for inclement conditions. In general, we will be looking for less than a 30% chance of rain and a high temperature greater than 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

Event cancellation will result in refunding each participant's money. Otherwise, standard cancellation rules apply.

You get eight runs at NTAXS events, so you will make four runs in the AM session and four runs in the PM session.

NOTE THE TIME SHIFT FOR VENUE-REQUIRED 10 AM START

8:15 AM – 9:15 AM Check-in, Registration, and mandatory Tech Inspection
(You must arrive in time to have check in and pass tech inspection prior to 9 AM)
8:30 AM – 9:45 AM Course open for walking
9:30 AM Novice Meeting (mandatory if new to NTAXS events)
9:45 AM Drivers Meeting (mandatory for all)
10:00 AM First car out
(Lunch and course-walk break between morning and afternoon heats totaling approximately one hour.)

Car Classing is based on engine size:
- Class 1/1R is for engines under 2.3 liters, except Honda S2000 and Lotus
Elise/Exige.
- Class 2/2R is for engines over 2.2 liters, but under 4.0 liters, plus Honda S2000.
- Class 3/3R is for engines over 3.9 liters, plus Lotus Elise/Exige.
- Class S2000 is only for Honda S2000 on street tires.

Rotary engine multiplies displacement by 2.0. Usage of forced induction multiplies displacement by 1.5. (This is in addition to the rotary multiplier, if applicable.) Tires with a wear rating under 140 must use the R class.

Hello second event of 2012!

justin81 Jan 14, 2012 10:31 AM

I hate pennington but I'm sure we will go. Probably co-drive my brothers. Doubt mine will be ready in by then.

Why do you hate it? It is one of the best surfaces that we run on. Clean, grippy, etc. You can get grip there on corded/belted tires, it's like driving on 80 grit sandpaper!

its so small. maybe i just haven't run a evo friendly course there

Evo_Someday Jan 15, 2012 10:57 AM

The tight course certainly favors smaller lighter cars. But it's not too bad. You just need to adjust the driving style a bit.

Ill most likely be there.

Looking to sign up. Bone stock 2008 Evo X MR would be in which class? This is my first ever race, so super noob here. What all is required other than full face helmet?

Class 2. Nothing required other than a helmet and close toed shoes. We have loaner helmets just bring some cash for a head sock if you want to borrow a helmet.

Make sure your oil is at the correct level and your brake fluid is reasonably clean. Take all the extra junk out of the car so it doesn't fly around and get stuck under the gas or brake pedal.

How many runs could I expect to get during the event?

PSMMR08 Jan 18, 2012 11:56 AM

From my understanding there are 4 runs in the AM and 4 runs in the PM so a total of 8. Correct me if im wrong

Built2Fast Jan 18, 2012 03:41 PM

Man I wish I could do this. No good tires for the car as of yet and definitely not running on the crappy ones I have on there now.

justin81 Jan 18, 2012 05:51 PM

yeah 4 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon.

PSMMR08, everyone at NTAXS are great and laid back. It's the best group to do your first race with. Plenty of us evo guys will be there to show you the ropes. Get ready to have a blast!!

Evo_Someday Jan 18, 2012 06:57 PM

Good way to start the year. Lots of evos to race with. Lets have some fun!

Kracka Jan 19, 2012 08:12 AM

8 runs isn't bad, maybe I'll get my brakes done this weekend.
