AMS Flash is coming to Washington/Connecticut!

Martin and I (Chris) are planning a trip out to the northern east coast to do some traveling flashes. We are planning on spending one day in Washington DC area on September 22nd, and one day near Greenwich/Stamford Connecticut area on Septmeber 23rd

Date: September 22/23rd
Location: Washington DC & Greenwich/Stamford Connecticut

Benefits of the AMS Flash :
  • RPM limit increased (customer specified)
  • Set 2-Step launch RPM (customer specified)
  • Boost control (Custom and Base flash)
  • Raise fuel cut to safe level, or remove completely
  • Improved idle with cams
  • Air/Fuel curve optimization
  • Timing CURVE optimization
  • MIVEC Tuning on Evo 9’s (Custom and Base flash)

Base flash for your current list of modifications. This is also followed up with a quick road test with logging to ensure that everything is working properly. You can expect at least a 20whp and 20ftlbs torque gain. We will be doing these all day, in-between the custom flashes on a first come, first serve basis. $180

All base flash cars must have:
  • Fuel Pump (Recommended)
  • Stock injectors
  • Stock MAF intake pipe
  • Stock Turbo
  • Stock Fuel Pressure

Custom flashes will be scheduled ahead of time, and we will be doing 6 per day. These will be full tuning of your vehicle’s A/F curve and timing curve. Also, for the EVO 9 the MIVEC timing will be optimized. As you know every car is different, some are very different, and this will bring out the very best in each car. Unlike the base tunes, they will be adjusted for your specific car to extract the most horsepower and torque possible. Actual numbers will depend on the modifications to your car. Each custom tune will have its own 2 hour time slot. $395

I will have 6 slots available each day. The schedule will look something like this.

Where in DC? I'll be out of town on the 22nd but may be able to make arrangements to get the car there.

Wow, I may just have to drive to CT for this! Is a Fuel Pump recommended even for stock EVO IX MR's?

I'll have a general guideline/tuning prep sheet up in about 30 minutes.

AutoMotoSports Aug 28, 2006 02:58 PM

yeah i think im goin to call ya and sign up for a tune what dyno are you goin to use or is it just goin to be a road tune?

AutoMotoSports Aug 28, 2006 03:13 PM

As much as we would love to do it on a dyno it will be a road tune. Our dyno isnt very travel friendly.

The tune will be very safe though, you just wont have a HP number to go along with it.

How would you describe your tune vs. other tuner? conservative or agresive to the point

you have to extract every pwr potential.

Things to check before your flash from AMS:

1. Check your car for boost leaks! A small leak can turn into a big hassle when you are out on the road and one of your intercooler pipes pops off. Check all of your IC piping and clamps to make sure they are tight.

2. We suggest that you install a fuel pump on all EVO 8’s. Unless your car is bone stock, we REQUIRE you to have a fuel pump. Evo 9’s do not need to have a fuel pump, unless the car is running high boost with an aftermarket turbo.

3. Set your boost before your tuning appointment and/or make sure that it is working correctly. Also make sure that you have a properly working boost gauge. This is one of the most important things!

4. Use a good gas company before you come out for your tune. Use the gas that you intend to run in the car all the time. Don’t come in with 100 octane in the tank and then switch to 93 when you run out. You WILL cause damage to your engine.

5. We MUST have access to your Rear Oxygen sensor and the bung that it is in. (Custom flash)

6. The car must be in sound mechanical condition. If you have a check engine light, make sure that you know what it is for. We will not be able to tune cars with problems related to essential functions of the car; such as (tps, maf, front O2 sensor, cam/crank sensor, etc) Check your fluids, specifically your oil level and tire pressures.

7. Zip tie the vacuum lines to your fuel pressure regulator and other lines that you have tapped off of it. If one of these lines was to pop off under boost, your car would go excessively lean and you would cause serious motor damage. Technically all of your lines on your car should be secured with a zip tie or other securing method. Also, DO NOT run a boost controller off of your fuel pressure regulator circuit, OR your boost gauge circuit. This will cause inaccurate readings and negatively effect the tune on your car.

8. Cars with boost control through the flash will have the option of purchasing a vacuum line kit for $10 shipped. If you plan on running boost control this is a necessary addition.

9. You will be responsible for any equipment violations that are found on your vehicle by the local police if such an occasion should arise. Violations can include, but are not limited to, tinted windows, too loud exhaust, windshield banners, and license plate violations.

10. Please disconnect or zero out any piggy back systems that you have on the car. Systems such as (S-AFC, UTEC, XEDE, E-Manage, ETC)

11. Make sure that you cigarette lighter is in good working order. We NEED this in order to use our wideband.

great info! Where in D.C.?

03silevo Aug 28, 2006 06:56 PM

<------this is mike h. just to let you know so you can change it thanks........

cij911 Aug 28, 2006 07:00 PM

Interested in a custom, but would like a dyno....Where will you be doing this in DC?

Cirrusly Evolvd Aug 28, 2006 07:38 PM

Ditto on the location of the D.C. flash. I was thinking about having Atlantic MS do my 50R install and would love for Martin or Chris to tune it saving me the trip to Chicago.
