So the doctor asks what happened. I tell him that I picked up some furniture and my hip started to hurt. He says hmmm sounds like kidney stones. Doesn't to me, but I let him poke me to see if it hurts. He says it will hurt here if it's kidney stones. Nope. It would also hurt here. Nope, not at all. He says stones won't make pain if I do this - then twists me and pokes another spot. Pain. Like it's been 3 days since I broke my foot and I'm walking on it pain - strong ache rather than sharp. He is all hmmm, I still think it's kidney stones. I say dude, I know people who had stones, this isn't stones. He says I need to go make a pee sample and then do a CT scan to test for stones. I say dude, unless you can catch stones through osmosis by picking up a cabinet over your head, it isn't stones. Poke around for a bulge so I know if it's a hernia or not. He finally pokes around a bit, says it's either stones (seriously?) or a strain on my abdominal wall. Isn't that what a hernia is? IDK I'm not doctor. So I agree to do the pee test if he gives me some meds, but then he gives me Ford Explorering muscle spasm meds. He had asked and I told him no, I have not had a single muscle spasm. So I give the spasm crap back to the pharmacist and tell her to put it back in the bin, and go back to talk to doctor stones. He gives me a new scrip for pain (I've basically built up an immunity to Advil is why I even wanted one) and a muscle relaxant. I've never taken a muscle relaxant and these ones are going in the bin directly, as I have enough close calls with making it to the bathroom. I don't need anything making my starfish sluggish. (IDK if they actually do that but I'm not risking it)

What I don't get is why was he pushing kidney stones so hard? Are the profit margins on pee and CT scans super high? It was pretty annoying wasting hours dealing with an "expert" who seemed to not know **** about it.

Cali, did you procure any standard capacity mags during your short window of freedom?

CT scans are super profitable for everyone involved.

Just read the doctor post. Kidney stones usually make back pain, or hip pain, that's really weird he keeps thinking it's kidney stone. Especially after doing 4 different things that indicated it wasn't stones.

Sounds like you should see a different doc. If you have PPO insurance, just go straight to an ortho specialist...

So, the Don's cloud is in full effect. It has come back with a vengeance. Let's go down the list. I didn't want to post it to FB since it seems like I've acquired people on there that I don't care about and I don't think they need to know, but I'll think about fixing that later.

We had to put down the first dog of my own, Duke Beagleton. He was 17.5 yrs old, and was getting really bad; he was walking sideways, blind, going deaf, kidneys failing, and urinating everywhere. I couldn't deal with him in pain like that anymore, we gave him a good life as long as we could, but once he was unable to get up and walk around on his own without help, it was time. The kids were devastated, the dog has been around all their lives. We still have Sally, but it's not the same without Duke.

Wapce has been working on this musical. I know nothing about drama or theater or musicals, but apparently, it's pretty good. The buzz around local theater is that they're excited and she's getting her stuff on stage. Another theater picked it up, so it's not just people around here thinking she's got skills, it's a bunch of people. However, wapce is getting so stressed and it's taking all her time away from work that she's burning the candle at both ends and she's never home, stressed all the time. She got so stressed out this past week with her director quitting, a chick playing the main character flaking out, and a seamstress leaving that she worked herself into a frenzy and a massive migraine. This migraine was so bad, I spent all this past Sunday in the hospital with her, getting IV fluids and 3 medications to try to get it to subside. So what does she do, you ask? (Maybe not but I'm going to vent) She skips work yesterday for being in the hospital, then goes to rehearsal! She left as soon as I got home, and she went to the theater and didn't get home until 10:30pm. In the meantime, I'm running after the kids, picking baby girl up from ballet, cooking dinner, being Mr. Mom for her to get the opportunity to go to her show.

My Jeep Compass is not worth fixing anymore. I've dropped too much time and money into it and it won't pass inspection and I am tired of f*&^ing with it anymore. It has 178K miles, and is walking all over the road. The engine needs a new cat, but the cat is part of the exhaust manifold, aka maniverter, and I don't want to change that, too much hassle. Mechanics want $1300 for that alone, and the car is only worth maybe $2k. I would also still need to figure out the steering issues, and that would put repairs over the total cost of the car. I'm taking it to Carmax and letting them give me whatever they want, so I don't have to deal with it anymore.

Since we're talking about cars, we've been discussing the replacement for the Compass. Wapce and I can't agree on the replacement. I want something similar, 4WD, able to fit the whole family if needed, tow a small trailer, be able to get to work in horrible weather. Wapce says that it's her turn since I have the Wut, it's time for her to get her fun car. I put together a list of possibilities that I would like to examine, from the frugal to the extreme, and even put some she considered on this list. She wants a red convertible, the car she wants me to get is an Infiniti G37 vert. I don't like red convertibles, but I looked at it as a possibility, just to give it a fair shake. I also checked out other red convertibles, but they don't suit the needs of this family at this time. An S2k doesn't fit enough people. She doesn't like Mustang verts (I looked at Coyotes) because "they're too redneck." The M3 vert is too dated and boxy for her. The only one she likes is the G37 vert. I also looked at FJ Cruiser, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (what I want), and Porsche Cayenne Turbo (thanks to Hoovies Garage on YT). I'm just frustrated because I'd be the one to drive it most of the time and I don't want to drive a red vert Infiniti and cram the 2 younger kids in the joke of a back seat it has.

The shower in the master suite is messed up, tried to fix it and the set screws are rounded out and unable to come off. I'm pissed about that, I have to get a plumber.

I've been having fun, how about y'all.

G37 sedan would be a decent family car.

G37 coupe would not be.

G37 convertible is what you buy when your kids have graduated college.

The answer, of course, is to get a NB Miata. Red, of course.

And then buy an actual family car with the rest of the money she wants to burn on her G37.

Or.... 2 Miatas... Miatus... Miatiae then they could each drive one with a kid. Problem solved. Unless they have 3 kids I can't remember.

No, but I know a bunch of people who did. I also know a guy who is worried he might move back to CA at some point so shipped a bunch from out of state here and he is going to store them at a friend's house until he moves back so technically he had them here during the window. I didn't buy any because I don't have a gun I want them for. I don't like the big bananas on the AR because I use it for hunting (rarely, and I'm 90% sure I'm going to sell it), and it would defeat the purpose of a sub compact to put one on a G29.

Kaiser. I'm giving it a week then I'll request to see the doctor that did my hand surgery. He's good.

Anyone know if the C7 (non-supercharged) are decent track cars? My brother was looking at M2 with DCT which doesn't seem like the best idea for a dedicated track car. I think he should build a spec miata or something to start out, because he's a complete nub as far as cars (he tracks bikes but very slowly - his friends all tease him about it), but he insists it needs to be fast. I am more concerned with reliable because I know he is going to whine to me if it breaks.

Or anything else in the 40k-ish range or below. He's very image conscious (he's basically my polar opposite) so it has to be something fairly new that he can brag about. No Camaro/Mustang.

Oof. Kaiser kinda sucks... At least on the end I deal with trying to overturn denied claims...lol

Noob with an expensive and fast car for first time on track sounds like a terrible combo. I agree with Miata, or a BRZ/FRS. At least they have the correct powertrain layout. He could also try to find a not haggard S2000. But he needs to brag about it, so maybe a Cayman? Idk, he sounds like a driving instructor's worst nightmare...

C7 will be a terrible track car for a n00b. It's way too fast, for one, but it's also going to be brutal on consumables. $1300-1500 for a set of tires (which you'll burn through fast because of all the power), brake pads will be expensive, etc.

And yeah... track instructor's worst nightmare - overconfident driver in a fast car.

Sean probably has the right idea with a BRZ/FRS. Can probably aftermarket SC it and still be reasonable. Maybe a 124? It's not a Miata

He changed his mind to a 997. Then again to something else dumb. Then something else dumber. I thought about it and remembered that I know a guy who owns a BMW racing shop and another guy who runs a Corvette specific street and track performance shop, so I gave him the digits and told him to deal with it himself.

Got me thinking about Legends again though. I'm going to try to get the car - the shop in Vegas is crap about calling or emailing back, as I've been trying to buy one for like 18 months. If they can get me one before the Mustang shows up, I might just cancel my order as it would be kinda redundant with the Atom and a track toy.

Friend of mine found that out the hard way. He went from a Wut X to a C7 Z06 and thought that he was actually taking a step back in performance. Then, he hit a wall. Literally.

The two dealers in state I tried calling and emailing and never got a response. But there's a dealer about 2 hours from here, I didn't see him when I looked before, and he actually picked up the phone! We are probably driving down there to see try to do a deal in person just in case he ends up being flaky too.

They just switched to a new water cooled triple, instead of the old bigger air cooled 4, and I have hated every triple I've ridden. I actually liked that they were air cooled, too. I hate dealing with cooling systems. But it's still a bike motor so our buddy's bike shop should be able to fix anything that goes wrong.

For Racingjunk, I know guys who have bought built racecars and every single one has needed enough fixes to cost more than a new one - if you include cost of your own labor. I want new.
