george tryin to convice my father
Then just get the turbo George has and run 8's......anyways, all I'm just saying the GT is overpriced. A car with equivalent stock numbers and potential could be ought for less...Viper is 85k, 911 Turbo is 118k, and I would take either one of those cars over the GT.
Hmmm, this kind of ignorance on Evom? Who would have ever thought........
Honestly, look at a Ford Gt, the materials that go into building it, and you might begin to understand the cost. The car will outrun the track version of the Ferrari 360, and you call its performance not worth the money? Not to mention the history behind the original GT40. But theres probably no getting through to you. I mean your saying youd buy a Z06, and then go on to quote the price of a C6 Z06, when that car hasnt even been officailly anounced, nevermind given an actual MSRP.

Regardless of what it's made out of, the end result is not a 150k car. 911Turbo 118K with minor mods could outtrack the GT. And if you think the GT has interior quality even close to par with Porsche, think again. Better car for lower price. Why is this difficult?
You have obviously never taken a materials engineering class, or have any concept of the cost of working with aluminum or composite materials. Nor have you probably sat in a Ford GT. BUt truthfully thats besides the point.
If you can afford a $100,000-150,000 car, saving money obviously isnt the issue. There are issues of exclusiveness, the art of the design, and of course overall performance. Your arguement seems lacking. Ford isnt trying to make tons of money off the GT, its a niche car, a halo car. It wont ever be built in enough numbers to make a large profit, in fact I think I read somewhere the cars are currently being built at an overall cost to Ford. Its not like they made a cheap car and priced it at $150,000. Obviously your the one making this difficult.
Oh well, Ive lost interest. Ill never be able to afford either the Porsche or the GT anway. I guess its nice to dream though....

Perhaps the Evo is a bit too twitchy for his tastes, or he doesn’t care for the quality of the Evo’s daily driving manners; which can be considered to be a bit lacking; the Evo is not meant to be a car for everyone. I feel that if your dad has the cash for these cars you should really encourage him to test drive them before buying and not preorder anything. Or, it could be that he’s more interested in the status symbol nature of either of the two other choices than the drive and feel of them.
Bottom line is, it’s his money and his cars so it’s his decision regardless of any why’s that may be involved.

i don't get why some people make the comments. WHY in the hell would i pay 100k more for a car that has the same horsepower as this.. blah blah.. perhaps. a person enjoys the car for what it is. I personally think the car is beautiful (gt).. i would buy it even if it had 300hp... i guess some people need to be the fastest car on earth to be satisified.
Hopefully they still will manufacture the GT in 2-4 years once i have the funding for it. ^_^

It could be argued that a Civic is better than the Evo. It depends on what your priorities are. No Lancer can come even close to the fuel mileage the Civic gets. Doesn’t make it the right choice for me. Just like the high performance nature of the Evo doesn't make it the right choice for my mom.
Well I never intented on the post to cause such a reaction, but it is very welcomed. He loves the EVO but it's hard not to have a passion for a car as fabled as the GT or be intrigued by the rumors of TT 427 Corvette. I was basically asking what it would take to make the EVO a contender with these cars as far as performance, I know it wont ever have the top end of these cars. I am fairly certain that he has decided on the new c6 z06 and to trade the evo in on a couple of star mazdas. Unless I can convice him to keep the evo and mod it, because he is bored with the power but not the handling. Thanks guys
