GO-ON3,
The in-key immobilizer is a device that electronically ties your key to your ECU and VIN#. It has nothing to do with the Fastkey device or the keyless ignition. It is a anti-theft device that is mandated by Transport Canada for all new vehicles sold in Canada.
Mitsubishi voids the warranty as soon as the car is officially exported. I have this info directly from Mitsubishi Canada,Mitsubishi USA, Transport Canada and the Registrar of Imported Vehicles. You cannot even go back to the States to have warranty work done on your car as Mitsubishi makes very sure as to not allow this from happening. This is done in order to protect Canadian dealerships from losing sales.
The dealer that told you that the warranty would remain intact is just trying to sell you a car.
for a step by step process i would recommend visiting www.ucanimport.com as well as www.riv.ca These two sites contain a lot of info and should be able to clear up any questions you may have.
Cheers,
Phil

The warranty is always a sticky subject. When i did my import I was told by mitsu North America, Canada and USA that it would be covered. However i know of people with different brands of cars who have it covered. Basically if your warranty book says North America then it is covered legally. Mine however stated that warranty was only for the USA.
That being said another dealership i was talking to said that the warranty book was listed as Mitsu NA,,which is weird considering we were talking about cars from the same model year.
In the end we loose warranty, but the money you save can do alot of warranty work if needed,,,i saved proably around 15k for what i got.

that list is updated from time to time and the last update was in august i believe which states you can even import 2010. So you should always check RIV's website for updates, you never know when things will change.

we should make a list of people and buy a bulk of evos,, could prob get it for dirt cheap!
Im planning on buying in April, along with my best bud, and talking to another guy who also wants to buy around the same time
Im thinking if we get 4 or more of us, we could buy together and get the free shipping to buffalo!
