I've definitely seen a few Evo's for sale on Auto Trader / Kijiji in Canada...are they all illegals then?

...please tell me I don't have to get a Subaru!

Recently, I wanna import an EVO 8 or 9 in BC, but someone told upgraded vehicle can't pass the safety inspection, which means the car can't be insurance. Is that true?
