I'm not really sure. Obviously you can't swap VINs, if you get caught, you're screwed (in more ways than one). I don't know whether the rule is "any VIN manufactured before this date is exempt" or whether it's "any car registered in the country before this date is exempt" in which case you'll have to wait till someone sells their canadian evo.

Yeah unfortunately I will have to wait until I can find one for sale in Canada.
As far as certain VIN's I doubt that would work, the inadmissible list says nothing about VIN's, only 2003+ evo's are not allowed is all it states.

Canada coming to it's senses???
Just came across a couple of links on another site that may be of interest:
Toronto Globe and Mail - Transport Canada considering less stringent bumper rules:

Toronto Star -

I can just imagine the flood of EVOs going into Canada if this happens.
On a related note - I'm a Canadian currently living in the US, but thinking about moving back in the next year or two. I'm thinking about buying an EVO VIII down here, but don't want to get screwed when it comes time to move. I'm guessing I'm still in the same boat as everyone else? I still have to go the the import process?

ya that article gives us alot of hope BUT since january i havent heard any updates!!
http://www.carswithoutborders.com
Somebody in the forums seemed to think they were set to review things again in the summer, while another thought it was September. Who knows.
There's also some pretty interesting stories on there about Transport Canada and the RIV. Those places (especially the RIV) are royally f**cked up.

And sorry for the long lignes billylancer. Next time I'll try my best to write in short, incoherent, fragmented sentences.

Apr 2 release
Here's the latest from the Transport Canada website:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/mediaroom/releas...8/08-h090e.htm
Sounds like they're planning going ahead with the amendment. Now as long as they don't pull some BS like not making it retroactive, I'm getting me an EVO!

Just wondering if it is still possible to get away with bringing a 2005 or 2006 over, or did they change the 2003-2004 rule already?
