Warning

i dunno if this is new or not or if anyone else has heard this, but for the guys and girls looking to seriously mod their cars,i heard MTO cars are now have or are going to have very soon some type of system in their trunk that they can plug into your car and it will come up i guess with certain codes so they will know if you have modded your cars ecu or anytype of computer mod,and also have some type of sniffing system to tell if your going catless or not,not sure if its true or not it was the first time i have heard about it,jus curious if anyone else has heard this and how old or new it is,i also heard something about turbo,if you get caught with a car that doesent come stock turbo or isnt offered for the specific modle your driving, they can make you pull your car

I dunno. Julian "Mussolini" Fantino is always trying to expand his police fiefdom at the expense of sensible freedoms we used to enjoy. Don't put anything past that pompous freakshow.

It would be dumb and a waste to do that. How long would it take for some aftermarket company or person to figure out how to bypass it or trick the computer to think there is no mods.

I don't see it happening because we are going through tougher times and it just wouldn't make sense for the government to spend money busting a couple of modded or average cars.

Plus, since all this back lash on modded cars, it seems like alot of people have turn there interests into bikes. There cheaper interms of speed/power, its the thrill, and the ability they have to outrun most cars or the cops if they feel like it.

The cat-less sensor thing makes sense due to emissions, but if the aftermarket parts meet emission requirements then I don't see how they can have a problem with 'em.

i think mostly what they are looking at is ecu and internal mods,i dont think they care too much about bolt on na mods, otherwise theyd be pulling every car off the road,i know mto is ****** just from being in my bosses truck when he gets harrassed by em,thats why i wouldnt put it past them to blow money on something like this, they seem determined to stop the whole modding/street racing thing, and since the whole 50 over **** isnt working at all they gotta try something else

nah, this is not going to happen. if they want to bust you for emission reasons, they dont need something that sophisticated to catch people

Another thing is, why would the government go through all this trouble so they could catch modded cars? They can do what they've been doing in the past which is setup up a raod side emission test station, or simply hand you a notice to go to one of their inspection centres. It's happened to a few friends of mine and not only are they checking mods and stuff but they want receipts as well.

Sounds like the ideas that are going into OBD III platform. but i dont think it will ever happen because its too much Big Brother. Second, Mitsu knows deep down, what makes a Mitsu, especially an EVO is that you can tune the sh#T out of it and it will take it. People buy old and new evos just for that.

OP is not talking about mitsubishi canada. MTO = ministry of transport ontario, what i think he means is OPP.
