buy tires from the US ship them to CBI in niagra falls NY....there are lots of ways around not having to pay the 13% tax. i was just there this weekend and the place was full of tires, even if you pay the 13% tax you will beat any price you can find in canada.

Lots of choices I guess! I've always used Tires 23 in Mississauga, great service and prices.

Thats not always the case, because you have to calculate mounting & balancing as well. So it may work out to be the same or maybe even cheaper here.

For example, I purchased a set of Yokahama S Drives from Tirerack and shipped it to a shop down there and had it installed. In total including mounting, balancing, and 13% HST at the border it came to about $600. They were asking $800-$850 installed here in the GTA, so I saved myself about $150($50 for gas down to Buffalo, was making a shopping trip with the gf anyways).

Then it came time to get a set of tires for my dad's car, so I was looking for a set of Yokahama All Seasons(forgot which one). I priced it out on Tirerack and asked for quotes here in the GTA, and it worked out to be fairly close in price maybe a $50 difference. So it wasn't worth getting it from Buffalo, I ended up going to Simplytire.

I guess it depends on the kind of tires you're looking for, and there are a lot of different scenarios. I suggest everyone to do their research and go with what works out best for them.
