Wastegate opening prematurely?
Wastegate opening prematurely?
So, I just installed an ETS open dump downpipe, and now that I can hear when my wastegate opens up, I'm wondering what is going on. MY car starts dumping to atmophere at only 9psi! Then there is a "blurp" (not smooth power increase - but not knock), and as it builds higher boost the dump tube gets a lot louder.
I'm thinking this is something that can maybe fixed by playing with the WGDC tables in ATR, correct? Unfortunately - although I am comfortable with tuning cars, I have no experience tuning anything with an EBCS until now with my car.... looking for thoughts here.
My mods are: Turboback Exhaust, AMS Intake, Grimmspeed 3-port, and AP V3. 93oct, 26psi tapering to 19psi by redline.
In comparison, my buddy has identical mods almost, except he has a manual boost controller and his dump opens up at around 15-17psi.

Custom Tune...
I think I've discovered some more info though that may be of some help....
I'm thinking the wastegate opening is actual 'normal' based on my tune. Since I didn't know anything about tuning an EBCS initially, I just used Cobb's OTS settings. I'm guessing under part throttle, it is normal for the WG to be opening to regulate boost at that point.
That being said, does anyone have a good document I can read on how to get a good understanding on the boost control/WG settings in AP? I know more is more, and less is less for boost, but is there a direct (linear) correlation for these numbers?
