Cobb accessport vs ams stx300 package

Hey guys,
I only plan on doing maybe some bolt on work and an ecu flash on my evo x fe. It currently is completely stock and my first upgrade would be to reprogram the ecu so it is running the right way. I researched two options for the ecu, the cobb accessport v3 and the ams performance package stx300. A cobb accessport video shows a gain of 35hp but no results on fuel economy increase or decrease. And the stx300 claims an additional gain of 60hp and allegedly fuel economy increase but again no specific data. ... Have any of you had any experience with either of these products and any resulting data both horsepower/fuel economy, or even any problems with them?

My goal is to get the car to run and breathe as effectively and efficiently as possible. If you guys have any other suggestions other than cobb and ams, i am open to hear your experiences. Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Currently running the STX300 on my FE, and I like it a lot. I can't say there's much of an increase in fuel economy. I'd say driving in boost is very addictive, and you'll see a decrease testing out the maps. You may see it if you baby the gas pedal, to which I'd tip my hat to you. There's a noticeable increase in thrust from 3.5k RPM, however, you will lose some of the FE responsiveness down low from 1-3k RPM. So it's a bit of a trade off. Overall, I like it. Ideally, it would be nice to make the power up top without sacrificing any of the grunt down low.

just get a protune. I've seen an EVO GSR with the AMS STX300 tune and it performed very stockish on our local road course.

I ran a 12.8 @105 in wife's 14 GSR full weight and no other mods with the STX300 tune

You can get a pro tune for less than the cost of either package, you don't need to buy any hardware unless you plan to tune it yourself. In NYC you have a lot of options for pro tuners, here is one that's right in your hood. http://www.vinnytenracing.com/

I don't know why people are still preaching go with Cobb when they've all but stopped developing for the Evo platform. Open Source has long been the way to go.
