Finally broke into the 12s.

Friday night bracket racing at MIR. I put 13.00 as my dial in time figuring I might be able to get close....broke out with a 12.9. Used a new launch technique...I rev'd to about 4500 started engaging the clutch until it grabbed with the ebrake up. Last yellow, dump the ebrake, dump the clutch and floor it. 1.77 60 foot.

I concur. Too much effort and stress on the driver.

You must have talked to someone else, because that's not what I told you to do.
This method is valid, though, because one of the more famous DSM guys does (Shepherd maybe). This method is like brake-boosting...you get some boost built up at the line without moving forward, and you ALSO get the driveline slack removed, so that there is little-to-no shock to the system upon launching.

4TUN8, I told you that 12s were easy if you could nail the launch. Great job; now change your sig.

I tried your launch Warrtalon, it just wasn't working for me at one point I staged....and moved when I tried getting the clutch to grab a little....it made the tree start counting down =p

This is basically your method with a little improvement for the stupid (myself). Check out this picture though =p

thats awesome, good job man. You have a pretty serious look on your face in that pic . anywho I used to launch like that when I first started to drag the evo and it worked but I felt it was too complicated. Then someone showed me a more simple way to launch I've been cutting 1.7s ever since. good stuff.

Hey, whatever works for you! I can see by the timeslip that you are messing up the 1-2 or 2-3 shifts...or if not messing up, then they are slow shifts, because you hit 85mph by the 1/8th, which is really good, but you only had an 8.23. I hit 8.1@84 with a 1.76 (same 60' basically), so you have even more room to improve with some practice. I could be wrong, though, since your gearing is slightly different. I hit the 7606rpm rev limiter right at 84mph, but your 3rd gear probably goes a little higher.

My only real concern is that you only gained 21mph in the back 1/8th, but that could again be caused by the 3rd/4th gear ratios. Was your 3-4 shift smooth? I think you can get 12.8 or 12.7 with another good launch combined with great shifting, but at least you got your coveted 12 now!

I think I might be shifting too slowly

3rd gear feels like a dog, 4th gear is where I feel the car is really pulling

The car bucked a little on every shift....I take it that's from shifting and clutching slowly. I did get the coveted 12 though, I felt great....the greatest I've ever felt losing a race =p
