Man my evo is slow. I know that a lot of it probably has to do with the way that it was broken in. What do you guys think of octane booster?

my times suck too. i just cant seem to get my launch right, i either bog or slip the clutch too much. my first time out was last night and my best 60' time was a 2.02. i guess it just takes some practice

With 3gals of 104 unleaded mixed in, I ran about 10 straight 12.3s and two 12.2s with mph ranging from 109-110.7. 4th gear in the 6spd runs out before 111mph, so I couldn't go any faster.

Yes, the 05s are that much faster, but I think your problem is the 91oct.
He's right about the 91 octane, especially our California 91. That 12.7 isn't that bad for 91 octane. When I would run on 91, I would see (timing logged on my laptop) and feel the timing being pulled back on the top end. Put some 100 octane and lean it out some and you'll trap much higher. I'm running water injection only with 91 octane and that's keeping my timing much more stable.

To add to the question..............How many of you had raced/launch an AWD car before you got you EVO? That will also play a big part.

Hundreds of times in 3 different DSMs, but none of that helped when I encountered the good ole 5k limiter. Once I figured out how to unplug it, things went back to normal, but I didn't get anymore stock runs.

You ran 104mph in a stock 03 evo with an awful 60'? That's probably the most astounding thing in this thread...

News flash drag race hero, the top end will be very similar on 1.7xx 60 ft and 2.5 60ft. The time will be very different put not the top end. And while I am at it a 12.2 with your mods in good ol' so. cal is a pipe dream. You would be luck to get out of the 13's with a 1.7xx 60ft. But what do I know, the most astounding thing I have read on this web site is your 12.2 with the mods you listed. Sorry I could not hold back this morning, I need to take my meds.

Sorry, that's not true. You only get the same mph on a bad launch if you SPIN off the line. A 2.5 60' would mean you bogged heinously and didn't get moving until well after the 60', which would end up with a terrible ET and less-than-normal trap speed. On this guy's case, even with a perfect launch, he shouldn't get 104mph, because 03/04s only trap between 100-102 with decent-to-good driving. Some of the BEST on here (like MalibuJack) managed to get 104, but I wouldn't expect from someone who couldn't even get a 2.0 60', so either he had a few mods when he got his 104 or he just had an extremely strong stock 03, which is possible.

As for my times, don't give me that crap about Southern California. People run fast everywhere...it all comes down to knowing what you're doing and being able to drive. There's nothing special about where you live that I haven't already experienced. You have heat and humidity...big deal, I've already refuted that complaint by showing that it was 80 degrees and 60-70% humidity when I ran. It got to 95 and 70% humidity just 2 days ago, so it's not like I'm in a winter wonderland all year round. I ran my best times in the middle of the summer, not in the cool spring/fall/winter. I assume I'll do even better when it cools off. Now, the reason I was able to run these times on these mods is because I mixed in 104oct and knew how to tune my SAFC to make that higher octane work to my advantage. I could do the same thing in Southern California, or Texas, or Florida. Would an additional 10 degrees hurt? Yes. Would it drop me more than a tenth or two at most? No. On 93, I ran 12.64, so it's no big deal...that's nothing special. On Cali 91, I'd run even slower than that, but I wasn't running on pump gas as you can see in my sig.

I suck at driving and I have no fuel control so my MPH suffered.

14.5 @ 94 with a 2.3 60'

Catback and MBC, like I said I suck at driving.
