What RPM are you lauching at? Not the 5K limit I am guessing. I have thought about getting rid of it.

Speaking of which, I remember seeing it up here somewhere. But I cant seem to find it. Do you have the How-To to disconnect it?
22-23psi should be great on that octane. That's what I ran on 104 when I achieved my times below.

I start my launch at 6k with a slight feather, which removes all the drivetrain slack and gets me moving forward slightly, then I hammer it. There is an official write-up for it on this website. If you do a quick search for the term "5000" just looking at thread titles, you will find it. You don't really need a write-up, though, because it's just a switch you disconnect under the driver's-side dash behind the fusebox at the top of the clutch pedal. There are 3 switches, and this is the top of the 3.

Bottom switch - starter engagement switch (keeps you from starting the car withou the clutch depressed - i remove this one, too)

Middle switch - for cruise control (not functional)

Top switch - for 5k limiter, but also seems to make the rpms hang between shifts, so I like to reconnect it when not racing.

Excellent - I have launched off the 5K before, sounds about the same with the 6K you do...little feather and slip then off...pulls good, no clutch burning smell, and goes like a bat out of hell...

I will do that after work tonight, gives me something to do...seems simple enough, thank you for the how to.

I went against a 2000+ firebird with exhaust cutout, long tube headers, stall converter, intake and a tune and he took me up top and launched just as hard..The car was auto and he would have 1/2 a car legnth at the 1/4..I would say his car was good fopr about 108-110 trap speeds with those mods running mid 12's..

Sounds about right. I believe with a stall converter or even better rear end gears my brother will be quicker than me.

my roommate just finish his ls1 swap(off 2002 ws6) in his v6 firebird. he has slp headers, slp intake, no cat 3" exhaust, and cams and 410 gears. He went to the track the other day and ran 12.9 @ 109 his best. he dynoed in at 335whp 355 tq and car weighs 3480 pounds.

the car seems slow for his mods....and he thinks its his weak cams so his gonna get something more agressive.

I ran 12.7 @ 108 in 90 degree weather so i think it'll be drivers race. dynoflash, turboback, mbc, intake

^^ Agreed. LS-1 V-8's are not multi-cammed.

I am very surprised of how much some 05 Evos weight. My 05 MR without spare tire and 1/4 gas tank weights 3136LBS

I just raced my friend w/ a 2002 ls1 ram air. He has the very basics whisper lid and exhaust(not even headers) plus 2 stages of NOS. First stage is 50 and second stage is 100. He ran an 11.20 at 123 w/ both armed and 12.8@110 w/ no spray. I ran him like 5 times the other night. First of all, don't think you will kill him from the dig. He pulls 1.6 60' times. So, you better be ready. Off the spray I had a small but steady pull on him. When he sprayed the 50 shot we were neck to neck until the top of third and then he had the nice pull. Both stages, just disgusting My car is an 05 w/ Buschur stage 2. Point is, don't under estimate an LS1 car. Heads and cam they will run in the 10's...... Good luck and let us know how bad he beats you J/K

Most-Wanted did your friend have a auto with the stock converter too? I have never seen an ls1 auto with the stock converter pull sub 1.7 60 ft times ( with a higher stall yes)

Stock converter for sure. I'll call him tomorrow and find out his exact 60'. He is on a drag radial of some sort. I'll find out all the details. He pulled me slightly on the launch.

I have heard and seen LS1's with NOS, and the amount the stock motor can take is crazy. Easy 11's out of the box. My brother doesnt have spray, and I dont either. So its going to be motor v. motor. And on street tires for both of us.

He also is going to be installing better trailing arms, so his hookups are stronger. I know that it will help his wheel hop, and may give him better 60' times. Its too bad we cant test that before and after.

I was also suprised to see the stock cars weight that high. When driving it sure doesnt feel heavy, but at over 3200 lbs. she aint light either.

LOL...if he destroys me then its going to be a really long drive back to NJ. But I think its going to be really close. I cant wait, date set for Aug. 18th. T&T both cars that whole week before to get them prefect.

you should take him. ls1 z28 do not impress me. i raced a ls1 Z with long tube headers, intake, cam, slp exhaust, ecu tune and TB and i pulled him slowly in my s4 with intake, Tb exhaust, and chip. he wanted to race from a stop (evidently rear wheel drive hooks better than AWD ) and of course it was over. he said it was running well also. ive never had a close race with an ls1, especially in my evo.
