Did some tuning at track today...

Well I decided to hit track up today and begin to really tune the alky with my newest mods (all in sig minus FMIC, 02 housing, and I had brp7es gapped at .028 instead of my bpr8es because I forgot to change them out). I would just roll out and then rip through the gears and I logged it all with my UTEC. My first pass was 80.63 (1/8) and 107.19 (1/4). I adjusted my AFR's to around 11.6 and added some timing here and there. I did another pull and went 85.24 (1/8) and 110.40 (1/4). I again adjusted my AFR's and added a good amount of timing throughout the map. Next pull was about the same trap but was knocking (I have UTEC pull 15 degrees of timing for any knock count above 3 as an additional failsafe for alky). I adjusted the AFR's once again (pretty smooth, all just about 11.6 with it being a little richer up top) and pulled some timing in the spots that it knocked. This time I rolled out and pulled a 86.89 (1/8) and 114.69 (1/4). After this I decided to call it a night. I was pretty happy with the improvement but there is a lot more room to make power. I would like to get it up to around 118ish (self tuned of course) and whenever turboxs releases their map software I will be heading down to be officially tuned. Just throught I would share my night...

He said he was rolling off the line, so I'm guessing they were unmentionably high.

I was also wondering, my 1/8 mph were kinda low, is that because I was rolling out or is that from the tune, If its the tune I will try and focus on it more next friday...

Yeah, no way to get any accurate trap speeds when you are doing 3-sec 60's. Seems like you could have accomplished so much more just by bringing a helmet and actually running full bore. Until next time!

Dan,

did you finally decide what turbo you may upgrade to?

As for me I just wanna maximize my stock turbo's power output and decide from there if I need a bigger turbo.

I haven't decided yet, I too want to max out the stocker first before I upgrade, I am not sure what my goals are for the car yet, I am going to be doing a little bit of every type of racing this season (autox, drag and hpde) and I will decide which I like the most from that and build car accordingly. When I get a chance I am going to port my manifold, turbo and then install my 02 housing and new fmic and mini battery kit. I will see what a difference they will make in time I guess, have you gotten to the track at all?

nope, havent had any time to get to the track at all.... been busy at work, and have had other things come up during the weekends, spending time with family, girlfriend, etc. but I promise myself I will go to as many track events as possible this season....

I may be side tracked for a few days as well since my brother had an accident in his slammed S2000 with a boulder which fell off of a dump truck out in NJ....

we are gonna try to fix the damaged subframe, radiator support, oil pan etc by ourselves....

Sure thing, the only thing we might have difficulty with is the radiator support.... apparently the boulder crashed thru the front grill of the car and bent in the lower part of the radiator support beam.... all other parts that got damaged (oil pan, subframe) are in a sense "bolt in" parts that my brother plans on doing himself...

the accident was kinda messed up though, Imagine travelling down the higway at 60 mph, going into a turn and just hitting a boulder w/o having no time to react or to duck out of the way?? Imagine your car being so low that your rear wheels are on the ground but the 2 front wheels are off the ground with the boulder under the front part of the car?

(btw, my bro is an auto mechanic/technician in the making and is going to school for it. In addition he also has acquired experience fixing and maintaining Hummers, tanks, weaponry, bulldozers and tractor trailers in his 5-6 years serving in the US Navy)...so I trust that he can get a lot of this stuff done, the only thing hindering him is not having the proper tools/equipment...)
