Anyone running a taller tire at the drag strip? Im out of gear. 131 at 8500rpm. I was thinking a 235/50/17 or 245/50/17 would give me 4-7 more mph at the same rpm. Curious if these sizes would fit witout any problems. Car isnt lowered. I dont wanna shift to 5th as it seems to not give any change in time or speed and I messed up the 5th gear syncro once already doing that.

Anyone doing this?

how are you hitting 131mph in 4th gear?

 

I managed to fit 245 45 17's on which work rather well which gave me 2-3 more mph in the 1/8 for 3rd

 

You should be a touch faster at 8,500... more like 135ish... perhaps they are worn tires though.

And yes you could run a taller tire but it will most likely hurt the ET some but raise the MPH slightly. You are better off running another 100-200 rpms. At 8750 you should be about 140.

 

And if you are trapping at 140+ your motor will probably start getting upset at the power your making so you build it and rev it to 10k... That will solve your problem perfectly.

 

Because he doesnt have an MR which as a shorter 4th gear.

 

Thing is the nitrous i added gave me about 150 more hp on the dyno. I dont see where i have any room to go faster with the gearing i have.

 

Like I said, you should be fine.. just rev it higher. I dont understand why you cant rev it to 8750 or so. You should be fine till around the 140 mark.
