Going for 11's tonight

Well I think the car has 11's in it tonight, it will be a little cooler mid-50's tonight so that will help a bit more. Im going to try and do this on 24psi. If not she will be back at 30psi and Im going to go for broke.

i've changed a few things around since last time. I now have lauch control, meth instead of alky, no clutch restrictor (its a lot easier to shift now).

Wish me luck. Once again videos will be posted by tomorrow afternoon thanks to laakness and Honni414.

Good luck. With your MPH you should be able to get there as long as you get a good 60'.

Thanks, thats what I dread is the lauching aspect. Im really not that great at it so Im going to try out lauch control tonight and see how that works. Im going to set it at 5500 and if it bogs slightly set it just a little higher to balance out my too fast clutch slip.

I have no doubt that you will nail an easy 11 if you get one decent launch and don't miss shifts.

Nope didn't get it. But my tranny is now shot. I forgot to log the first 2 runs and couldn't figure out why the car started to break up at the end of the track, on my 3rd run I finally got a good log and I was hitting boost cut at the top of 3rd gear and most of the way through 4th.

My best runs for the night

R/T .512
60' 1.649
330 5.131
1/8 7.994
MPH 86.36
1000 10.368
1/4 12.336
MPH 113.30

R/T .523
60' 1.906
330 5.177
1/8 7.939
MPH 85.95
1000 10.294
1/4 12.251
MPH 115.01

the first one was with launch control set at 6k and wow what a friggin pull. I cnat wait till openecu has logging capabilities so I can get rid of the utec and have a better launch control system.

The second run was boost cut near the end of the track.

1st and 2nd gear syncros are gone. Driving normally the car is fine. The car just cant shift at high rpms anymore, I have the dreaded ACT lockout again

Some people will say to re-adjust and bleed the clutch... well its been done numerous times and the clutch is crap, complete garbage. I would never recommend this clutch to anyone, might as well and spend the money with a good set-up instead of crapping out 2 different clutches.

Dryad, if you know it's the ACT, which is the same thing that happened to me, then why do you think the 1/2 synchros are shot? I thought I was having synchro issues, too, but it was just my ACT on its way out, and I could no longer adjust it. I went straight to the Exedy 4-puck to test it out, and it doesn't cause the lockout at any rpm in any gear at any speed or at ANY adjustment (yes, I adjusted the pedal engagement to the floor almost and still no problem). Since then, I've been able to powershift every gear with absolute ease, and none of my gears ever grind. I was glad to find my tranny was 100% fine.

Wow, so you were able to lower your clutch pedal height lower and still experienced no lock out. Fantastic! How has your new clutch been acting around stop and go driving? I also believe that dryad001 problem is his clutch. He's sure to dip into the 11's with a new clutch.

Yes, I was amazed, too. I specifically tested my Exedy 4-puck at every clutch engagement point per Exedy's request just to see if the dread 7k lockout surfaced. Until this point, we had been led to believe that all single disks had that problem, but it seems like the ACT w/street disk has a special propensity for it.

It's fine for me during stop and go driving, but there's no denying that starting in 1st is more harsh than with the stocker or the ACT street disk. It doesn't bother me, because it's worth it for the extreme shifting performance. I guess the other thing is when I downshift, there is less forgiveness, which means I find myself rev matching and practicing heel-toe a lot more.

I know its the syncros because when I try to downshift back into first there is a horrible whining noise that wasn't there 2 days ago. Plus my last 2 runs last night I couldnt move the shifter into 2nd until the rpms dropped to around 5k. Now driving around town at low speed shifting it seems fine but sometimes the tranny is hard to get out of first gear, and still grind going into 2nd, kinda sounds like a clunk of some type but its too hard to describe.

But if I do keep dragging the car the tranny will end up going out on me anyways so I might as well spend the money now while I still have a functional case, instead of a cracked one. I know of a few people who lost their trannies using an ACT. So on tuesday the tranny and t-case are getting ripped out of the car and sent to shep and Ill have Scott from TTP send me a tilton, with this combo I highly doubt Ill have shifting problems. This is probably the reason why my 1/2 shifts were so slow in the videos, they were never smooth always real notchy.

With that said after the break-in of both the tranny and t-case I'll head back to the track and try once again. But as of right now the drag racing days with the Evo is over for now.

EDIT: oops also forgot to mention that while going down the track at around 7k in 4th gear there is a grinding noise, something let loose somewhere don't know what that sound was though and it only made that noise on my last pass. Still had to get home, ya know?
