mid 14 second evo
Well the intake is half the problem but I dont bother telling people that anymore because if the person doesnt get the hint after the bazillion threads about how bad intakes are and how bad vta bov are then there is no point in educating these types of people.
All you can say is you suck at driving. Not to mention this guy arlready admitted he KNEW that the intake is BAD and that he is NOT going to take it off so there ya go. Our job is done here warr.

Since you thought the launch was good until you saw the slip that means..... you slipped the clutch big time not getting a good 60ft time but also not bogging off the line. Bet the clutch smelled nice. Secondly listen to the advice from those that have mentioned the intake. Put the stock one back on and give your intake to a show evo. I don't think your driving is the answer on the 94mph trap unless you missed a gear badly or shifted to 5th before the finish. What the 94 tells me is your hp is really low for an evo. Usually the et tells us if you can drive or not (yours was normal for a 94mph trap) the trap speed gives us an idea of your power. Good luck

Hmm, wait, I was just about to help until I saw you say twice that you knew installing the $400 intake _AFTER_ your tune was bad, that you felt it lose power _AFTER_ installing the intake, and that you are now going to KEEP the intake on. No help is deserved here, but I'll give you one hint (the intake isn't half the problem).

thanks for the reply, i guess the intake is really killing the performace of my car. i really didnt think it would make THAT much of a difference after i had a flash previously done thats why i came here asking peoples opinion on what it could be.. yes i've read how intakes are so called "bad", but if i knew i'd be trapping 94mph i obviously wouldnt have put one on.
I made the same mistake right after I got my evo. I put an intake and BOV on and went to the track. I ran a 14.0 and couldn't get faster. The car felt slower!!!
I later found out that both mods were hindering performance. I then bought a TBE, sold the intake- bought a K&N dropin filer, and replaced the loud BOV with an aluminum MR DV and the car was MUCH faster.
The intake mod just isn't as vital for the evo (of course unless you're upgrading the turbo or have an ems). Mitsu did a good job with that system. If you just have a flash and stock turbo- I'd stick with the stock intake and dropin filter.

Well, adding an intake after your tune is bad, but it's not 94mph bad. You have a major issue that is likely related to boost. YOu said you did a boost leak check and found no leaks, but can you explain exactly what you did? I must admit I have a hard time believing that someone knows how to do a proper boost leak test but doesn't have the common sense to remove an intake after it's noticably hurting performance...
If you did a proper boost leak test and had no leaks but are only trapping 94, then I'd do a compression test and a cam timing check. Both can be done in your driveway/garage in a few minutes. The compression test tool is like $10 at Autozone.
