first time at the track!..Stage 1

I went out to the track today for the very first time. I havea 06 EVo MR. My very first time I ran a 12.9 and every single time after that I got faster and faster...By the 4rth or 5th run I was already in the 12.4 range with 2 back to back..I could of gone faster if my stock clutch wasnt sliping, but You can only work with what You got.

12.4963 @ 110.81---12.4439 @ 109.8939

By the way I using 2 step and my 60ft where consistant 1.67-1.71.

I think I did alright considering my mods are only a TBE,mail in flash and EBC..Honestly with a new clutch that can actually grab I can easilly see 12.0-12.2 Et.

I wouldn't say "easily" 12.0-12.2, but you might improve. If you were hitting 1.67-1.71 60's, then the clutch was grabbing just fine. However, those ETs do not indicate 1.67 60's unless you shift very very slowly. The ET vs MPH looks more like 1.8 60's. Anyway, that's certainly good for your first time. The power is a little down for a IX, but it's good for an VIII with the same mods.

Clutch isnt going to give you power especially the 20-30whp you will need to get there.

Well he's already got the power for a 12.1-12.2. He just needs to figure out how to get it out of the car. Dont know if its slow shifting or revving it out to high. Where are you shifting at?

NIevo, why do you say he already has the power for it? His traps don't indicate the power for 12.1s.

If you havent already removed the clutch restrictor in the slave cylinder do that and it will save your next clutch if this one is in fact already toast. Where are you making these passes? Weather? Weight? Boost?

He's definitely got the power for 12.2s. I used to run consistent 12.2's at 110mph with 1.6x - 1.7x 60's.

However, the 12.0-12.1's are a bit optimistic.

I just need to play with my Boost controler a little more...And I'm not talking about uping the boost I'm talking about adjusting the crack pressure and duty cycle where it holds better up top. Also I should say my times and trap speeds where getting faster and faster, I think the clutch letting go had more to do with me not getting better times. But then again I'm not custom tuned or anything, I have a base map which is probably conservative.

But I must say...Warr said it best. Even when I hit my best 60 fts, my trps where no over 110.8 mph. So I guess I need to work out some kinks...No other way around it.

With 110 almost 111mph traps 12.1's would be possible with a great launch/shifting, 12.2's for sure. Many people, us included have ran 12.3's with 108mph traps.

12.2s maybe, but still not likely. I only hit a 12.3@108 due to the top-end mph being lower than normal. All my other runs were 109.5, but that one was 107.99 for some reason - no explanation I can think of. My 12.26 @ 110 was more normal, but that was a 1.66 60' and some pretty fast shifting. If he is able to match that, then great, but it's not something I would bet on. As for 12.1s, that's really reaching unless he starts hitting 112-113.

Maybe you can convince your buddy Al to come back to Ak so I can get those traps up a little

By the way Warr I have a quick question. When you went to the track with the 6speed, where you shifting at 7800 Rpms or a little before. Because way up there it feels like it's not making much power anymore and my car tapers down to like 17-18psi. Maybe shifting sooner like 7300 ?...Oh not to mention shifting into 5th isnt exactly fun.

You were shifting at 7800rpm's? No wonder your times were off. You should be shifting at 7100rpm's or so until you have cams. Even with my mods I am shifting at 7500rpm max.

Do you back up this statement warrtalon?..Because if shifting that low will make me run better then lol, That's good news.
