slow 50trim

I STILL havent fixed the boost leaks but I went to the track anyways. Got there late around 8pm, closed around 9 due to rain. First run was 12.1 @ 121!

2nd
60'-1.77
1/8- 7.8
1/4- 12.02 !!!!!! F@CK
MPH-...............122.96!!!!!

3RD
60'- 1.79
1/4- 12.09 I gotta get this boost leak fixed!!!
MPH-122.XX.....

I'm shifting like crap and have several boost leaks now, track was cool and I was pulling really decent. Man I wish I had a boost controller and some race gas, I can only imagine. I really need to get my butt in gear and get outta the hole in the 1.6's. Im dropping out of boost during shifts, but I'm way to afraid to no lift to shift. Im SUCH a wuss! Any comments welcome, I know that my shifting is slow, and my 60's aren't that great but other than that fire away. Thanks Matt W.

You have a 50 trim and no boost controller? If you are having boost leaks, get them fixed before you go to the track. Get a boost leak tester or just take it to a shop, its not going to be that expensive to fix.

You are getting pretty good mph so with some more aggresive driving on your current "leaky" set-up you should be able to run mid 11's.

I just havent had time to build one yet. I really dont prefer shops for anything other than to use a dyno (and we don't have any around where I live). Ive just had way to many things going on to take the time to test it and it was a last minute decision to drive to the track so late. I think the problem is down low, Im just not pulling good until half way down the track. I know with proper driving (fast shifting) it could go 11s...I just dont have it in me yet to shift it that hard. I have ran soooo many 12.0 at 120. Im mainly just excited about the 122.96 mph on pump gas and full weight (3500 with me in it) Thanks for the comment. Matt W.

Fix that boost leak asap. Thats a great trap, but I know there is alot fater ET left on the table. Mod your ECU with EcuFlash with the NLTS patch to help eliminate dropping out of boost. Here is a thread showing you how:

Are you sure you have boost leaks? Your traps (121-122mph) look very nice for 22PSI and pump gas, there are plenty of 50trim owners who would take your traps on pump gas and 22PSI. I mean 400whp (on AMS dyno) and your traps pretty much line up in my opinion. I mean you don't even have a boost controller and I am assuming no meth, so your traps are pretty respectable. Some shifting improvements should easily get you in the 11s and with race gas and improved shifting you should be deep in the 11s. I know maybe you were expecting like 420-430whp on the dyno, but AMS dyno reads lower than other dyno jets. I mean damn if you do indeed have boost leaks, then you may have one of the strongest 50trims I've seen.

kinda low on tq...Im sure I have a boost leak, pretty sure its from the tps side of the tb...I also think the engine is starting to see its day, it has 65k really hard miles, it was a demo car before the first owner bought it 2k miles of test drives, I bought it off the first owner after working on it for the 2 years and 49k miles he owned it. I have now had it about a year, and have repaired sooo many of the weak items on the car and cant be happier with its performance. I am in no way a pro at driving, cant even consider myself a novice, Im just out to have fun and learn. Thanks for the comments I really do appreciate them. I think if the funds are in the bank a short block build, 4-5 more psi on race gas.....maybe some sauce on top of that later next season. And yes the car is full weight on pump gas. I weighed it with me in it is right at 3500lbs.

Hey man. I was at irp a couple weeks ago and saw you race. Loved your car. Honestly it always seems as if people run lower times then they want there.
You had 2-step, correct? I could definenly see you in the elevens, but im no evo expert. Good luck, your car was really quick. Ill come up to you sometime. I want to see your car closer up.
