Burning Clutch Smell?
is it normal to smell burnt clutch after every launch? i have my 2 step set at 5500 rpms and i recently practiced launching my car because i plan on going to the drag strip soon. i've only launched my car about 3 or 4 times on different occassions. each one felt really smooth, but i could smell my clutch burning after each launch. i can get a clip of a launch if it'll help you tell if i'm doing something wrong. any advice?
c,mon bro what do you think. Anyways what type of clutch is it? If is the stock one, which I dont think it is seeing your signature. You better replace it soon, any ways even new ones will smell bad if beeing launched constantly, because they are so hot, but the difference is that the aftermarket "good clutch"-if you bought a good one, will grab better when hot. Obviously everything has it's termination point. If you just bought a brand new clutch make sure you break it in, usually
300-500 miles normal driving. Or trying to slip the clutch slightly will break it in faster, I would rather just take my time and do it the right way.

Exactly how are you launching? My first run ever was the only time i ever had the clutch "stink", and that was on the stock clutch. I probably had 40 launches on the stocker, and when i replaced it still had a ton of material left.

I'm still on the stock clutch. I let it bounce at 5500 rpms (2 step) and then I slowly let of the clutch until I feel it catch and then I let it go. I don't dump it though. I dumped it the first time and the front end hopped a little.

I used to do that coz iam too scared that something might snap.Everytime i launched i would burn my clutch up to 2nd gear sometimes.Just keep practicing and you will get it without glazing your clutch.Just do a quick slip and let off quickly.
your slipping it to much... that is why it is a smooth launch and that is why your clutch is burning. Soon as the car moves drop it. you can slip an upgraded clutch more then the stock one.
