V-6 Camaros and Mustangs VS 03 Lancers(Non-EVO)
Anyone ever raced a V-6 mustang or camaro, I had my first run today with one I hung with it pretty good! I got the jump on him then he slowly went by. Anyone else got some stories with these? BTW I'm auto with SRI and Catback!

A stock auto V6 'stang can hit 17.4 sec while the 'maro in the same format hit 17.1 on the 1/4 . . . I have seen this at a big drag event. A stock Grand Prix GT can toast both of them.
I have also seen a Lancer LS pegging 18.3 to .5 stock at a drag event when weather was a balmy 70 degree. IMO, it will take more mods that you have to take them.
A manual lancer with more mods has a better chance taking those out than auto format. You need at least 140 flywheel HP to even compete.

i walked right on by one today at a stop light, this 16 year old kid revved his v6 at me and i pointed and laughed at him then i proceeded to hand him his ***.
At the next light he wouldnt even look over.
hahah, then again i am an auto turbo intercooled lancer.

a 99+ v6 will be a 15 sec car for certain if its a stick.
I have one friend who was able to get 14.9s out of his stick when it was bone stock. but everyone else I know is mid high 15s due to driver and 17 inch wheels.
an auto will see high 15s low 16s
94-98 are 17 second cars
96+ v6 camaros are a little slower than the 99+ v6 mustangs usually 16 seconds.
I have seen a few run 15s though with efw small mods

A newer 3.8L V6 Stang/Camaro run low 15s if driven well, and the Camaro 4AT will run mid 15s, also if driven well. This has been documented many times by many different sources and drivers. The drivers of the 17.x second 1/4 mile times must have been awful or the conditions were very, very bad for them to run almost 2 seconds slower than the best times. A GP GT runs mid 15s with slicks and low 16s on street tires, and since the engines are the same and the weights are comparable between the GP and the V6 F-body, the F-body should be able to run low/mid 15s because of the benefits of RWD. The absolute best times of a 5MT V6 Mustang/Fbody are in the high 14s (14.9x IIRC) but that takes a combination of an unusually strong car and talented driver to pull off. Of course, if someone's driving a V6 pony car they probably don't really care all that much about performance and more than likely don't drive their cars to their full potential.
