Who holds the record of the fastest/quickest Evo9 mivec & non mivec head?
Is TurboTrix Racing still around? Haven't heard of them for couple years.

Nope, almost identical casting. Most people dont spend the time with the MIVEC and dont make the power. At some point its really not entirely needed in a drag car as the spool increase is incremental on large turbos. Makes for great street car/pumpgas power since you can tune cylinder pressure with it.

Looks to me like Chris Young/StreetThisEVO is the record holder for the fastest (highest MPH) actual EVO9 at this time. He ran 160.16 mph this fall (November I think) and is running our Stage 3, 2 liter engine along with our BR Stage 3 MIVEC cylinder head. That day at the track was rough, had a hell of a time with the clutch (which ruined his entire season actually). I'm not one to speculate but will just say the car would run even higher MPH on an actual clean pass. That car also had our small runner Forward Facing turbo kit on it with just a little HTA86 turbo on it. The day he ran it was also full interior and exhaust, he runs two Kirkey race seats in the front and had the rear seats in the car and carpet etc.
Chris and I are discussing this years plans now and debating on switching to the EVO8 head or not. The only benefit there would be he could run our BF280 cams in the head which will make more power than what he's running now.

I must be bored or something cause this EVO8 vs EVO9 thing has me intrigued and I don't really post on EVOm a lot anymore.
What is the general thought on what makes an EVO9 and EVO9? I mean the EVO9 is the lightest of the EVO's and the only thing that really makes it an EVO9 is the MIVEC. My opinion is if you remove the MIVEC it's not really an EVO9 anymore. Anyone else feel like that? Maybe it should be called a non-MIVEC EVO9?
