I run extended lever by about 3/4 inch. improves feel and easier on the gear box.

Based on experience, a short shifter does not necessarily mean a height reduction. A small height reduction will do no harm but the key to bettering shift times and reducing your throw is to change the fulcrum of the shift lever. Also, improving shifter feedback through the use of base + cable bushings and weighted or ultra low weight shift knobs (depending on preference) also helps with the quality of shifts. This, in turn, will reduce missed shifts when slamming in the gears. Could help you reach that extra tenth of a second

I've never used a short shifter in my car and I never felt the need too. Just listening to the audio of my shifting in the video, I can't imagine being able to lessen my shift times with anything but a dog box. I use the stock shifter and stock knob.

stock shifter works the best for me. I ran a few other peoples car at the track on short shifters and could not get it to shift correctly.

I think it all depends on the driver. Most of us use stock ones including me. I have driving the short shifters and never had a problem. If it was up to me why spend the money if you don't need it.
