Angry I am so frustrated right now

On a whim i decided to take a trip to my local drag strip today - US 13 in delmar, de. Let me tell you - i am so disappointed at the performance of this car. My first run was a 16.90 at 78 mph. Not earth shattering but i was late ( .375 rt ) and it was my first pass in almost 10 years. I was not happy but i took it for what it was worth. My pass in eliminations was a tire - slipping 17. 36 on a 16.85 dial in < vomits > I made a few mistakes before i left so that through me off - when i was staging i forgot to put the car back in first so i launched about 500 rpm's higher than what i wanted to and i spun the tires through first gear. I nailed the light with a .016 but i lost to a nissan pick up My feeling is this - for a sporty looking car, Mitsubishi really should had given this car some "cajones" instead of a wimpy, no - frills, 98 whp 4 cylinder. Mods are - CAI / test pipe / magnacor 8.5 mm wires with iridium plugs / Greddy catback exhaust so i was feeling about mid to low 16's but this in my opinion is rediculous. I understand the practice of trying to make the car affordable by not adding some stuff but i think for a sports car we should have had more power / stiffer suspension / et al ... All i have to say is that thank god i am getting another $1600 bucks this week so i am definately ordering a RRM intake and throttle body and possibly an ECU. Maybe then i'll be in the 16's i love my car - i just wish Mitsu would have given this rally edition some rally power

I don't know what to tell you other than if you wanted rally power then you should have bougt a Rally Red EVO. I know not everyone can afford an EVO, like me right now, but if you really want some power than you'll have patience and save up your money, and buy one like I'm doing. Still the car you have isn't so bad, I'm sure with more practice, your car could see low 16s. Now if you began to become even more serious about performance, I believe there are still plenty of parts that can help your car get into the 15s and 14s. I'm not a 100% sure but isn't there a turbo offered for lancers?

Dude, what do you expect from a RA? they're weak as can be, and ? I don't even know where to start. You shouldn't be complaining if you bought the car in the first place. The specs of the car spell SLOW AS ****.

And ps, a 16 1/4 is so embarrasing, I wouldn't be going around telling people about it.

Take a look at ripp mods. for thier vortec sc drive. I think you will find it less costly than a turbo set up and pretty much a plug and play. You will give up a little on top for very good low end and instant power as compared to the turbo rout. I was going to go to them for help for my overly wimpy "00"Eclipse gt 5spd. but then the Evo came here to the US. BTW you have a nice looking practical car that you can make faster if you really want to drop the coin.

It's driver flaw.

R/T has nothing to do with your final ETA. You can wait 10 secs at the green light and still get your high 16 sec at your final ETA.

your 60 footer is everything. somewhere between 2.4's to 2.5's?

I can't aford it either, but damn sure gonna try and get my hands on an EVO, gonna have to be a used 2003 model for $27,000 and under, but after I put $5,000 down, payments will be affordable. Also I just wanted to say that the biggest improvement you can make on your drag times, happends to be free, and that's improving your driving skills (not saying you suck, but practice makes perfect). I think my biggest mistake with my VR4 (I once had) was that I started modifying it, and didn't even really know how to drive it correctly. I'm not gonna make the same mistake with my EVO, before I add a single modification, I'm going to make sure my driving abilities are up to par with the car, which for me means consistent sub 2.0 60FT. I'm just suggesting that before you add on another modification that you make sure you are comfortable launching and driving your car. That's just my two cents.

Why make a comment like that? If you really want to know what slow *** is, drive a classic, basic model 323 HB w/ auto or the classic bug w/o any sort of tune up or the BMW 318 or 2002. Otherwise, your generalization has a major flaw as with your suspect ego.

Thanks for all your inputs -

Let me clarify something - i was just mad at the performance of the car and i wanted to just vent some frustration.

baha - my 60 foot times were 2.40 ( 1st pass ) and 2.69 ( 2nd pass ) - i feel this loss was due to me spinning the tires after i botched the staging procedure.
Like i said, these were my first passes in almost 10 years so obviously i'm not gonna be john force or abel ibarra. I also may have to do a burn out before i race ( i didn't do this today )

3000 - i understand what you are saying dude, but unfortunately i do not have the 5 grand for a down payment.

I really am going to stay with my OZ and i am going to make this my project car. My goal is to take this to the 14's N/A and then slap a turbo on it. We will see how this goes.
