Well, I finally got my new AEM issues worked out and I'd like to give David Buschur a big thumbs up! David spent over two hours with my car today trying to figure out why I was having issues with my AEM. The tune David did was right on before when the unit was installed but the car just wasn't running right. After an hour in the car making a few pulls trying to figure it out, David said let's check the spark plugs. Well, wouldn't you know it, dummy me bought and installed the wrong damn plugs... Boy did I feel like an idiot! :crap:

Anyways, after changing them out and making a few minor adjustments to the tune, the car felt even faster then it did when it put down 362 on the famous Buschur Mustang Dyno. This was on 93 and alky @ 25psi. No race gas.

Drove the 3 1/2 hours home, changed and headed straight to the track. Here are the results of both runs. (Only made 2 - after the second it was time for a beer)

My best run prior to the AEM install was 12.117 @ 115. I picked up almost a half second with just the AEM and tune! I'm extremly pleased with these results and I would like to thank David for all his hard work and patience with me! BR's tech support is #1 in my book.

The best thing about this is I know the car is faster with more practice and getting use to the new found power. I'm hoping to pull an 11.5 out of the car before the end of the season. PS - This was on 93 & Alky, no race gas. Temp this evening was about 10 degrees cooler then the night of my 12.117. But, my 12.117 was a perfect run for my driving abilities. Tonights runs were not as good.

congrats man! I am also waiting for my 35r kit from them to go with the stroker... definately gonna have to get used to the power. I havent been to the track since I was on stock tubro and barely any mods... i was happy to run 12.9 kinda scared to see what ill be running now lol.

Luke, with the 35r kit and some practice, you'll be running fast.... I bet you can't wait for the kit. I'm up in the air now about going to a bigger turbo. I'm not sure I want to sacrafice my quick spooling 20g-9 but I would love the power of the 35r especially after watching David tunning his 9 second daily driver which put down almost 600 on the dyno!! That's just nuts! :)

race gas is way better

From what I've read and heard, and I'm not a car expert here (note the "wrong plugs" comment I made in the first post), race gas is much better on the track and you get more power out of it especially C16. I just want to be able to drive the car onto the track, run 11's and then drive it back to work with the same capability. :) That's why I just run pump and alky.

Mike, VERY good job. I am very glad we got the issues you were having worked out!

I knew the car felt good on the street but I'm not sure I thought it felt that good! 118 mph is freaking moving! That's enough MPH to run 11.5's.

Again, great job.

what was your tire pressure at on these runs btw?

The tire pressure is not really important, because that always depends on the actual tires, the ambient temps, the track temps, the amount of VHT, the launch method, etc etc etc. Tire pressures are not re-usable across venues, so you have to figure that out on your own.

Nvr2old, glad you finally got where we always knew you could get. You had the right mods, the right tuning, and good enough driving, but you just always seemed to be a little off. Well, something as simple as plugs can make a drastic difference, as you now know. Trapping 118+ is awesome, and the 11s are easy now. Get more runs next time and try for that 11.5

As for the whole race gas thing, yes, race gas CAN make more power than 93+alky, but that's not really the case on the stock turbo, because you're already maxing it out. For all intents and purposes, using alky on the stock turbo is as good as race gas, so it's not really necessary to continually point out that you weren't using race gas. No biggie, though.
