BR's Bad Bish, first runs for 2009
 

We got in invite to go over to PA for the weekend for some tuning and racing. Blouch Turbo and CBRD put on a drag event at Beaver Springs Dragway.

After a winter of working on the Bad Bish it was finally time to haul it out to the track and make some passes. The week before we had it at our Sport Compact event and broke the differential the first pass.

We got to the track and I met the track owner. Beaver Bob, has owned the track for 39 years, buying it as an airport, converting it to a dragstrip in 30 days and has been running/operating it ever since. Hell of a nice guy, has some cool cars too that he was nice enough to show me.

Anyway. In the drivers meeting we were all told the track runs up hill a little bit and to watch it on the starting line as the cars will want to roll backwards when you stage.

First pass was a 9.61 at 149 mph. Spun hard in 1st, bogged going into 2nd. A few adjustments and the next three passes were, 9.25, 9.223 and a 9.222. The best MPH was 157.26 mph.

After the race was over we started really reviewing the logs closely and started to figure out why the times were off a bit. We knew it was spinning but didn't realize how long, far or bad. Looking at the datalogs the RPM and vehicle speed looked like an EKG! Once the car got into 4th gear it would finally smooth out and hook up.

Given the traction and the uphill track I am satisfied with the first passes of the year. I'm busy making some changes to the car now for the next time out which will be next week. We want that 8 second pass!

Don't go complaining to Beaver Bob about not being able to hook up. In the driver meeting he said he'll tell you to "get a better job and spend more money on some traction". hahaha

Nice opening day Runs!!! You cant ask for much more out of the gate with the car.. Youll get it dialed in for sure soon enough.. Congrats!!!

Yes, I know what Beaver Bob said in the meeting! haha I kept hinting to him about putting some additional spray down but it wasn't getting through.

One thing that was promising was the 1/8th MPH, the car ran 125.xx every single pass, the best being 125.68, pretty sure out best 1/8th mile last year was 123.xx. Every track is different though so it's hard to judge where we are right now.

Also, the car is out of fuel. At 43 psi of peak boost the injector duty cycle was hitting 106%, that was with the AFR's LEAN. I pulled the car in today to finally install the rest of our new double pumper on it. I'm hoping it gets the duty cycle and AFR's back in line. If not it is time to change to a larger injector. I'm on 1200 cc injectors now. I think just finishing off the fuel system should do the trick.

Plans are to run the car next week at Norwalk. I'd run tomorrow but the weather looks like crap this week and I am heading to an autocross school Friday/Saturday.

Nice first season passes. Im sure Beaver Bob is a hell of a guy but that track is scary. Nice dip in it:crap:

Come to the Buschur Shootout in August and youll get to see it run.. Its the LARGEST DSM/ EVO Race of the year!! {thumbup}
