Pump Gas(93) FP Red In The 10's???
I'm wondering if anyone has broken into the 10's with the FP Red turbo on 93 octane only. I'm thinking it's possibly judging by my own times that I've recorded at Englishtown at the Showdown. I managed an 11.42@118 with 95-100F track temps. My car is nothing special so I'm figuring with a good driver and the right setup it could happen. Things I can improve on.
(1) Better 60ft - Personal Best 1.71 (2) Quicker Shifting - Possibly NLTS Patch (3) Better Gearing - I think VIII 4th is good to 126mph (4) Weight Reduction - Right now I'm sitting at 3238lbs w/ Driver (5) More Power - I'm only tuned for 25psi on my Red with a conservative AFR WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? |
well the theory that every tenth off your 60ft is two tenths off your 1/4 seems that you could pull it off with weight reduction and quicker shifting im guessing.

Yes, Mike1023 did it last year. 93 oct at around 25psi.

This thread is opened to suggestions as well guys. I'll be getting retuned for my HFS-5 Meth kit soon and should definately be in the 10's but I want to see how close I can get without it.

Ya you need an VIII 4th.
Also with that 1/8 mph it might be a bit hard....but you answered some of your own questions to the quest of trying! |

What do you run for tires? No traction problems?

I have Falken ZE-912 All Seasons. I ran them at about 19psi when I ran the 11.42 I was banging on that rev limiter well before the end so I know that 4th gear is the biggest road block. I want to raise my rev limiter by a couple hundred to see what happens as well.

By the way, that guy Mike1023 seems to have done this on a full interior Evo which makes me feel better about the fact that mine is stripped a little.

Was at Lebabon Dragway last night and Burnsall4 blasted an 11.29 at 119 on a STOCK IX turbo and 93 pump. Ive got the similar setup as you Import Junky. My best is 11.76 at 117 with a red on pump. That was through a cat and 22.5 PSI. Im looking to retune without the cat and more boost.

Evo 8 4th gear being the most important. Evo 8 3rd gear as well if in budget but not as important. 2. 245/45 tire, I suggest Nitto 555r if also being used as a street tire. If not I suggest the new 245/45 hoosier that Indy and 9sec9 have just released as a track tire. *exclaimer* Switching to a 245 tire from the stock 235 tire netted me an increase in 2mph trap speeds when I was on the stock turbo due to the increase in gearing. 3. Tephra NLTS patch will help hold boost inbetween gears. It does not increase your shifting speed, that is solely up to the driver. 4. Remove rear sway bar to allow the car to squat harder on the rear for better 60ft's. These are a few of the things you will need to do to achieve 10's on the Red on 93oct. Typically with quick shifting it will take a solid low 1.6 60ft and a trap speed of 124mph. Good luck. |
