Which Drag Wheels & Tyres?

OK guys, considering the drag racing scene is much bigger in the USA than here in the UK I figured this is the best place to ask :D

To the successful drag evo boys: Most Wanted / AWD Motorsports / Buschur / AMS

What size drag wheel & tyre combo do you use? (Ideally DOT version tyres)

If 15" wheels do they clear the factory Brembos?

Thanks in advance :)

Greetings!

15" wheels do not clear the stock Brembos.

There are some 16" wheel solutions that can clear the stock brakes and you can use MT ET Streets or Hoosier QTPs... I have seen (not on my car) 1.3 60fts from the QTPs...

FD RX-7 wheels and Hoosiers are a combo that alot of the shop cars are running!

Basically if you need a 15" rim to fit you have to go to a smaller front brake set-up and depending on what rim you go with you may need to run a front spacer as well.

Main reason for the 15" is if you prefer to have a larger selection of "non-dot" tires.......full slicks.

The MT ET Street "RADIALS" are what the other guy is saying he runs. I'm betting he has c/o's and possibly had to massage the fenders to get them to fit as they rec'd to run them on 8-9in width wheels as i ran those on my 03 Cobra a few years ago. I may be wrong so maybe he can let us know if they are a direect bolt-on w/o issues.........they will be a very tall tire which may actually help some people depending on your trans gearing.

If you take alook as Ali Afshar's (sp?) STI he runs the same 275/40 17 MT but not sure if he switched or not.

CCW's and 93-95 RX7 wheels with 20mm spacers. There has to be more somewhere?

Damn that is a big spacer. Is that safe to run with a space that big?

If you run a style similar to the H&R's and have extended studs you'll be fine.

I really like the te37 volk setup that STM runs but that is like 2700-2800 w/ tires. what happened to all the motegi traklites?

Was that due to a spacer issue, sheared the studs, or plain forgot to tighten the lug nuts

I couldn't tell you exactly because i was racing in the other lane but my old man told me the car had like 6 spacers on it with extend studs.
