Stock motor, stock turbo, stock piping record?

Just looking for information here.

I'm buying a IX to replace my wrecked VIII in a couple days here, and will be throwing parts at it in the spring. I've done the whole built motor thing and would like to keep this one a lot simpler... Like injectors, fuel pump, boost controller, test pipe, and NO OTHER POWER MODS simpler. Throw some corn at it, make mid 300s Mustang, and run some mid 11s on street rubber. A happy, fun, minimalist, sleeper as **** project.

And so I've been wondering, has anyone else done this before? Purposefully kept all the stock piping including intake and exhaust and shot for decent power and times regardless? If so, I'd like to see some numbers and results so I know what I have to beat to do some record chasing.

I've got the full bolt-on record. Had a stock longblock (including cams) and stock 9 turbo. 10.51@127.

Yep, my tuner held that at 10.78 before you ran the 10.51. He's got a Green on that car now though.

Regardless, it would be nice to find out the fastest a stock exhaust, stock intake car has gone, if anyone's bothered.

I think 9sec9 or whatever his username was with the stock exhaust and intake went 11.9 @112 on e85. Don't quote me it's been a few years since seeing the thread

I went 12.98@103 in a bone stock ix RS with 35k on it fwiw

11.9 will be a cake walk if that's all the faster a stock intake and exhaust have gone so far.

Everyone wants their own record...

So, trying to run mid 11s with nothing but fuel system is a bad thing? And if I succeed, wanting the recognition for it? Ideally I want to get kicked off. 11.49. Yeah, it's a bit of a lofty goal. Deal with it.

But I guess when you can't even break 9s at 150mph your opinion's going to be a bit negative about people doing more with less... I know mine would be.

My best time in my old SSL 8 was 12.19@113 on a 9 turbo, exhaust and E85 tune. Made like 360 on AMS's dynojet. You will be better off with the Mivec but i see mid 11's being a stretch. I'm going a similar route with my rebuild, Max effort stock turbo. Make close to 400 whp with cams and call it a day.

I dunno, depends on how much I can make. I made 308 Dyno Dynamics with my old VIII and ran a 12.007 with a slipping stock clutch, would have been a high 11 if I hadn't had issues. I never got a good pass with that car to be honest.

Right now though, E85 availability near the track is questionable, local laws changing and things. I'm putting it off for this season, keep the power down and do more road course, then hit the strip later on with E85. I'd still like to do it but it never was a full-focus priority.

Sounds like the whole E85 availability thing was blown out of proportion but i could be wrong. About 4 years ago before it was big i just carted it along with me. 3- 5 gallon cans in the trunk was enough to keep me going and get me home. Could always map switch it back to 93 for the trip home. The beauty of the evo is the two drain bolts in the tank so it makes switching over pretty damn easy even if you wanted to at the track.

I have ran a 11.42 with the stock cat back on it. Only mods were 3" downpipe, cat delete, Megan 02, boost controller, tune on 100 octane. Rest was stock. I'm sure I can better that with my current RS.

Good work, sir! Those're the kind of numbers I was hoping would pop up. What for tires?

Damn those 9's are fast!

boost556 Mar 21, 2014 07:24 AM

I am hoping to run low 11's soon making 398whp and 394tq on dynojet on stock turbo with cams no E85 but meth.

That was on dunlop sp5000's. Here is an older run that had too much tire spin, I didn't get a video of my 11.4, just had better traction and 1-2 shift. As you can hear, the exhaust was very quiet with the stock cat back :) I miss that car, was a true sleeper.
