Goin to the track for the first time

Hey guys, just picked up my evo about a month ago and I'm thinking about taking her to the strip... this will be my first time trying to launch/race an AWD. Coming from the SRT4/fwd world.... just thought I'd ask if there's anything specific I should be doin or paying attention to. I'll be on street tires. 03 Untuned with an eBay intercooler and intake...

I have read some other posts and see different opinions on launching. I think the most went for between 5500-6000 and lightly try to feather the clutch?

Before I get flamed too bad, I have been searching all kinds of threads. This is to get acquainted with some of you guys and to help get the low post count up..

Thanks in advance for any advice

there was a how to launch thread somewhere, why not take it to the proper track and see how you go :)

As I call it, other may not but there's 2 lines of tire paths that I refer to. A line where the tire path of racing slicks that launch down the track, its extra sticky. The line I use for my nt05's so I don't destroy my powertrain, one side is closer to wall and the other side is between the line where the slicks usually line up. It's not as sticky so its easier on your car. Depends on your tires but you can try both lines out. For me when I lined up on the slicks line, my car would grip to much and it destroyed my first gear. Go easy on the first few runs until you figure out how to feather the clutch with the 2 step.
