I posted the same message on another thread, but I have the KN typhoon and Al reflashed it when he was in Florida a couple weeks ago. It was running lean at first and thats normal becasue it sucking in so much air that its obvious the stock ECU cant keep up with the needs. Al reflashed the fuel map it and has been running perfect since. I will say at first I had problems when I had just put it on and the solution was to clean the MAF sensor with rubbing alcohol. These filters come well oiled and it takes a drop or dirt or anything to get on the MAF sensor and it will make the car run crappy. Any filter for that matter.

Ok, will these Intakes work on cars that are flashed? I have an AEM but it hits the hood pretty hard, this will clear it easilly.. What should I do? Why does this intake not favor the Evo? Is it because of lack of tuning? Wat is the deal?

K&N Typhoon Intake Replaced by Drop-In Filter

After reading the stuff in this forum, I decided to take off the Typhoon intake and replace it with the drop-in filter. The loud intake got old fast and I like the quiet roar that the car makes now. I have the MR BOV and want to get the Dynoflash for my car.

My question is this: Will the dynoflash make my gas mileage worse if I don't put the hammer down?

I will tune it for 93 gas and was thinking of not doing any more modifications to the car. I find that it is fast enough for everyday driving.

I also still have my 1996 Eclipse GSX. Anyone want to buy my old car? I still have it for sale. PM me if interested. I can go lower on the price if needed. It is listed on Autotrader.com and the zip code is: 06880

Thanks.

As for gas milage on cruise - there is no difference with the dyno flash - we retain the same a/f tagerts as the stock

However on full gas our tune runs significantly leaner than stock so you would save fuel there - but since you actually would make more power in some cases its a bit of a wash out

Just adding the Dyno Flash makes sense for a dialy driver

Let me know when you are ready - I will be about this weekend at Pruven

Ready for the Flash

Great!

I work in Stamford so could I get it flashed today or sometime this week?

What about the price, if I drive over, could I save a few bucks?

Let me know what you can do.

Thanks in advance!

My typhoon intake cuts out at about 3500 rpm's when getting on it. When i say cuts out i mean falls on it's face. I've put the stock one back in and the runs hard as ever. K&N sent me a dry charger and i put the typhoon back in and no improvement. They were thinking turbo lag and being how the dry charger was to cut air flow by 2-3% they thought it would help, NOT AT ALL!!! Being how there's more than just me having problems, K&N told me to call them back if I still had problems, this would probally be a good opportunity to express what I"ve read tonight

I have had the Typhoon on for almost a year with absolutely no problems. The only thing I an into was that the engine was running much richer, I am talking 8s and 9s ratio wise. Once I got my engine management system I took out fuel (alot, up to 25%). Other than that the intake is awesome, no problems.

My buddy got an AEM and I didn't need to take out as much fuel but, with the intake I picked up about 8 more hp and 10 lbs/ft. tq.

I have the Typhoony intake system! It is not a very good system at all! I had the through the mail Dynoflash, and resently had Al custom tune my car. He stated various problems with my intake, the end result was my car made good power, but not great power! He had to tune it as a 91 octane tune vs 93 octane that I use. Also the dyno chart was not smooth at all throughout the power band.

I am kind of stuck with it now because it was a custom tune, I wish I had researched this Intake system prior to purchace. Lesson learned!

I find it hard to believe I am the only one who has had positive numbers and experience with this intake. Again, I have nothing but positive things to say about the intake.

I am running 93 octane. No problems

Your not the only one. Al's last custom tune on my car was almost a year ago and the car runs great, just like the day he flashed it. I have put on almost 20k miles since without any issues. It took some work on Al's part to get a good tune and he proved that it was possible. I would definitely assert that it is one of the most difficult intakes to tune with, but it is possible.
