I can't pass 24 psi...

help Al.... You tuned me 30psi on race gas couple weeks ago in New Orleans. I can't pass 24 psi. I already did a boost leak test and it seems like its my stock plastic diverter valve. Which bov should i go to now? also do i need to replace the spring of the mbc?

here was my run last fri. I even crank all the way up my mbc but its wont pass 24 psi and it goes down to 22 psi on redline:crap: . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NcK36aQhOA I still won against that MR2 though! :D

Please reist your entire list of mods for me

Also a questions

1 - Does it make more than 24 psi on a highway full gear pull or just at the track ?

hks 280
ported cylinder head
ported ex manifold
wiseco piston
eagle rods
clevite main&rod bearings
lower ic pipe
hallman mbc
arp head studs/ rod bolts
walbro fp
tbe 3inch
k&n cone filter

we made 26psi when you did some pulls but my ic pipe pop off and you said i can run to 30psi safe. I'm running staright 114 octane.

I did a boost leak test and the leak was coming from the stock plastic bov and the pin hole in the hallman mbc.
My question is which aftermarket bov should i get without affecting my tune? and should i switch to stiffer spring of my mbc?

APS holds 30 and has stock driveability

the metal valve MIGHT be able to hold 30, 28 for sure

Get rid of the stock plastic bov. That can only hold 19psi at the most. Should have done that long ago. That should help out alot!

Forge, Greddy, Aps are all good choices

justchil Oct 8, 2007 11:49 AM

I like the Forge... you can run into driveablility issues tho. I had the APS and it was OK. You definitely need to change from the stock plastic piece.

Also... you can spray soapy water to find those smaller boost leaks!

PS: What did your slip look like from that run? 1/8 mile right?

what about the GFB stealth adjustable bov?

DynoFlash Oct 9, 2007 06:55 AM

I now have Forge RS in stock - they are the best by far and work like a charm

I had a similar problem it turns out that my boost controller was clogged up. Took it apart and cleaned it up and boost magicaly returned

hmmm....i will try that one!thanks!

either way you should still be getting rid of that plastic bov...
