Yeah we're still stuck with running straight gasoline as a solution to this until a proper additive can be found. Oh well.

As far as to why it is no longer in use in fuel additives, that I am unsure of.
I too tend to trust findings in that forum due to the same reason you listed, but as with any advice given, gotta take it with a grain of salt.
Interesting. However, it hasn't been banned, and as far as I can tell, its not a gasoline detergent additive. None of the additive manufacturers talk about it, and when I called Gumout, the tech guy had no idea what I was talking about when I asked him if they use methyal in any of their additives.

According to the OP in that thread from GT-R Life that I quoted earlier, Gumout used to put methylal in their additive, but their formula has since changed and it is no longer used. No other fuel additive manufacturer that I know of uses this in their products so we're still back to where we started with this gunking issue.

Best we have here is 91 octane. However, E-30 is also available, advertised as being 92 octane. With E-30 in the tank the car flies, the difference is way more than noticeable. So, I am wondering, do you think running E-30, which I've grown fond of, can cause the injector gunk problem?

I can pull out my injectors and fuelab filter this month and take some pictures for science, they've only seen E-85 for 18 months of daily driving (city) in all weather conditions (-18 - 123F). Hell, if I get the timing right, I can send the injectors in for cleaning and flow rate analysis at the same time.

I wouldn't bet on the foam treatment because in my experience, the gunk buildup can be very substantial and require extended exposure to any cleaning agent. The fuel/crankcase treatement doesn't list PEA or PIBA as ingredient, so hard to say for it.

I finally pulled my PTE 1000cc injectors off after 5yrs of nonstop E85 usage. This is after 17k miles only. There is gunk, and there is also some white corrosion on the other end. Anyone know what that white stuff is?

Not sure what that white oxidation is, but we know what the Gunk is: polyisobutylene

You should have flushed w/a tank or 2 of 91 every 6 months

I kid. I've had my car the years and only put 15k on it. LOL
 Not enough track time.

Have a little bit of that on the inside of my injectors, not as bad as his pictures. I'm sending my injectors to FIC tomorrow for testing and cleaning
