Plugs and E85

Pulled my plugs today to take a look and to swap some new ones in.

These have about 1200 miles on them. Approx 500 being with E85 and the first Approx 700 with 100 octane. NGK BR8ES

Amazing how clean they are from the E85. Little bit of det on some of them because I was pushing the E85 a tad too hard at one point. {pcfreak} {thumbup}

Only thing that has me a little concerned is #1 (far left), as the strap band is much different than the other three. (other three are pretty much perfect in my book)

I'll be taking out the new plugs I just put in after I put some miles on them. They will have 100% E85 on them for their life.

I've changed a number of sets. Yeah, they look clean.

[EVO]Cookie Aug 19, 2008 02:24 PM

Yes, I over change mine I've tried a few different kinds trying to lick the cold start trouble. I use the BR8EIX or 7's they seem to work the best for me. I didn't have much luck with the 8ES's. Got tired of changing them every 3K.

If you want to get a good read on them make sure you use new plugs. If you think your plugs are clean. When you run it all the time your valves, injectors, tank, filter, lines and ports will be clean.

I've been on E85 for three weeks and I haven't check my plugs yet. Will have to do that this weekend just to see the condition of them, but they were used on 91oct before the E85. My oil seems to stay cleaner, not so dark, with E85.

Thanks for sharing with the local folks Bryan.

In theory if they are so much cleaner don't you think that we. Could push coppers farther then 3k if e85 is the only thing you run?

You guys are so lucky to have E85 available! Wish I did..:(

I should change my plugs, I still have stock plugs with 45k on them..But since I am having no misfire issues I just left them alone..Mabye I just need to turn up the boost.

Was this with the ARC2 and Montero coils or is that old news?

I have .025 with my current COP setup but I think they might need knocked down because they seem to have a really bad miss intermittently around 31psi right now.
