Quick question for you E85 guru's? I have 2 gas containers of 5 month old E85

Can I use it. I drained it out of my car in April and due to various issues my car is just now getting to a point where I can try to turn it on, can I re-use that fuel? If I can't where the hell can I dispose of it.

I've read somewhere on here that 3 months is the maximum.

I had purchased some e85 and ended up parking the evo for over a year while I tore the car apart and swapped a bunch of parts. I had the same predicament as you, where the hell to dispose of it? Well, I ended up not finding an answer, so i filled the car up and ran 1 year old e85, no issue whatsoever. My plan was to baby the car until i refilled the tank, but never once had a single issue, even when accelrating with it.

afr was spot on, car ran smooth. I say use it!

e85 was stored in vp 5 gal containers tightened tightly before storage in the garage.

If you put it in a fuel container I'd use it, it's fine. If it's sitting in a pail or something then dispose of it.

There are rail cars all over the country sitting full of ethanol for months at a time :) I currently have a train sitting down near the Gulf of Mexico just waiting to get unloaded...been there for about a month so far. The biggest thing is make sure the container is full and sealed, basically just like if you're storing brake fluid. The less air sealed in the container, the less moisture the ethanol can absorb (this is why storage containers should be full).

ive had e85 in 5 gallon gas gans for over a month, tested it and it was still e85 and tossed it in my car. never had a problem, also had 2 55 gallon drums of it in my garage since march.. still e85 as well. as long as its sealed properly i dont see it being an issue.
